No big deal; I agree with Raider Fanatic all Hall wanted to do was play D and pass the ball - but who will pass the ball to Mays? John is gone and Reggie is not a pass first / assist type point.

Yes. But who made those recruiting decisions the past two years?

I think we are all hoping that Donlon has learned from those past mistakes.

I hate to be the bad guy, but did not lose anyone of importance. If people had to leave, I am glad it is them.

let's hope the bleeding has stopped. I consider Vance to be a fairly significant loss. Take a look back at some of the comments that BD made about him during the past season. I don't consider him a marginal player. Young is a nice get but we need a couple more like him to right the ship.

Nothing against Vance, but I don't see him as that big of a loss and I don't really think Donlon does either. Donlon is an old school coach where he doesn't air his dirty laundry to the media. He usually blamed himself last year after losses. He seldomly singled out players to criticize besides saying they needed to work on certain aspects of their game and he usually talked up his team. I saw the praise he made of Vance as just another example ofhim talking his players up. Vance played in all 30 games last year and started 17. He only averaged 4.5 points a game. I liked his hustle, but I don't see him as a major loss.

I do agree that we need to add 2 more quality players with our 2 remaining scholarships. We need more kids that can score.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong? I think this is what our roster looks like for next year.

Seniors:
Julius Mays G 6-2 195
Armond Battle F 6-7 210

Juniors:
Jerran Young G 6-5 200
Matt Vest G 6-5 200
Cole Darling F 6-8 200
AJ Pacher F 6-10 245

Sophomores:
Reggie Arceneaux G 5-9 160
Kendall Griffin G 6-4 210
Tavares Sledge F 6-8 225

Freshmen:
Jacoby Roddy G 6-5 200
JT Joho F 6-6 220
Joe Thomasson 6-4 165 (sitting out as a non-qualifier)

That leaves us with 2 scholarships. Based on the recruiting board it looks like we are trying to add another PG. What are we going to do with the last scholarship?

Your list looks correct to me. My guess is that we sign a PG this spring (hopefully Bobo Drummond) and use the last scholarship for the 2013 class. We could sign a D1 transfer that will have to sit out next year or just hold onto it until next year. 2013 is really loaded with talent. We already have one scholarship promised to Joe Thomasson if he can gain his eligibility. I wouldn't mind holding onto our last scholarship so we can sign 2 more kids in that class. If we could find an impact type transfer like Julius Mays then I think we should sign them, but otherwise bank in for 2013.

You can add Joe Bramanti to that freshman class.

I like these 2 additions. Let's get Bobo Drummonds and call it a class.

I would have thought we would have tried harder to add a post player. I understand why we want to add Drummond still because we only have 1 true PG on the roster, but Bramanti seems more like a luxury than a need considering the state of our inside game.

 Julius Mays is gone

Per Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanCBS):

Wright State guard Julius Mays is transferring and will graduate in June. Averaged 14.1 points this past season.

Yikes.

Mays just tweeted the following:

"@JMays34: I'd like to thank the WSU staff and family for all they've done it was a great 2 years here and I'll miss everyone #RaiderUp"

There was a rumor about 3 weeks ago that he was headed to Purdue. Looks like that rumor may turn out to be true. This really sucks. Brandon Wood did the same thing at Valpo last year. He graduated and then transferred to Michigan State and played right away. I can't blame them though. Getting a chance to play in the B1G would be hard to say no to.

Man, that really sucks he is transferring, pretty much the heart and soul of this team. But I don't blame him one bit. He isn't going to get anywhere with the title of being the best player at WSU. He might as well go to a major school where he can potentially start and get some recognition. This spells big trouble for WSU.

The thing I am most disappointed in is the fact that Julius lied to his fans, coaches, and teammates. He told everyone including me he was coming back next year. I don't really have any respect for him after that.
