AAU Preview: Wisconsin Swing 16U-Selk 4/8/2008 Wisconsin Sports Network By Mark Miller
Chip Rank, 6-6, PF, Cedarburg An aggressive and hard-working forward who pounds the glass as hard as any player in Wisconsin … Plays with relentless passion on both ends of the court … A physically tough interior player who can face the basket and either make mid-range jump shots or create scoring opportunities for his teammates off the dribble … Currently has scholarship offers from North Dakota State, UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee as well as interest from Bradley, George Mason, Northern Iowa, William & Mary and Wright State … Wisconsin has shown some interest for both football and basketball … Currently ranked No. 10 among state prospects in the class of 2010 by Wishoops.net … From coach Selk, “When I saw Chip this spring for the first time, I couldn’t believe how his body had changed. He’s gotten taller and stronger. Chip’s desire and determination are what make him special. He is willing to do whatever it takes not to lose. He can handle the ball and score from the perimeter, but is most effective in the post when crashing the boards. Chip’s athleticism is improving, but he needs to continue to work at it. Chip has all it takes mentally and physically to play at the highest level, but he needs to quicken his release on his jump shot and improve his ball handling to play high-major Division I basketball.”

Chip Rank, who already has a handful of mid-major offers, showed outstanding range on his jump shot. Although listed as a forward, Rank had probably the sweetest outside shot of anyone participating in the tournament. He lacks some lateral movement on the block but is as tough as they come. All-in-all, he's going to make one college coach extremely happy. Also being recruited as a quarterback in football.
