"Yesterday was also very important for WSU when it comes to NCAA seeding. First, we get to play Butler in the finals. We are currently 80 in the RPI. Another win over them will help us. Second, Loyola got back into the top 100 in the RPI after losing to Butler last night. That puts WSU at 3-3 vs top 100 teams. That will make a big difference come seeding time. We also have a chance to add 3 more Ws vs top 100 teams before selection sunday. Obviously if we beat Butler we will add another, but Miami and Marist are both on the bubble to finish in the top 100 for the year. Marist is sitting at 102. They should finish in the top 100. Miami is at 111. If they make a run in the MAC tournament, they could also finish in the top 100. A 6-3 record vs the top 100 could give us a 12-13 seed instead of a 14 seed."
This was a good post. I never thought about how much our seeding position could change if certain teams can win and get into the top 100 in the rpi.
As of now we are 4 and 3 against the top 100 teams.
26 Butler 1-1 39 Bradley 0-1 81 Wright State 92 LSU 0-1 97 Loyola 2-0 98 Marist 1-0
As bigd said if we can beat Butler we can finish 5 and 3 against the top 100. We need to have Marist stay in the top 100. Miami blew their chance by losing to Bowling Green today.
If we can beat Butler our rpi can be in the 70s and with a 5-3 record against the top 100 we should be able to get a 13 or 12 seed.
Lets first worry about Butler but it is fun to dream a little.

If I'm not mistaken isn't this the first time we drew a 13th seed? Now we just need to take care of business Tuesday night or it means nothing.

If we win Tuesday, we will get a 12-14 seed based on how everything else falls into place. I hope we can get a 13 seed, but regardless, I'm just happy we are talking about seeding at this point in the year. Usually, we are already talking about recruiting and next year's schedule by now. It's nice to be playing this late in March.

The latest ESPN bracketology has Wright State as a 13th seed playing (4) Nevada in ... Spokane, WA (6) Butler playing (11) Missouri State in ... Sacramento Somehow Horizon League has all of the sudden moved west. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology

I'm not so sure Butler will get a 6th seed. I hope I'm wrong because that would be good for the League.
I'd take a 13th seed and a game against Nevada. We'd struggle with their big man but any 4 seed is going to be a tough match up.
My only hope is that it is more local. Spokane is a looong way from Dayton, OH! Come on C-bus or Lexington!!!

I would expect a 13 seed for you guys.
I hope you don't play a Nevada or a MVC school, and instead draw a team from a BCS Conference.
We don't want two Mid-Major(ity) teams playing each other in the first round.
That wouldn't be good for the Mid-Major(ity) cause.

msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/6543104Raiders could win a game in the Big Dance Jeff Goodman / FOXSports.com Don't expect Wright State to get pounded by 43 points this time around. The last and only time that the Raiders got into the NCAA tournament was back in 1993, when they lost 97-54 in the first round to Indiana. The combination of Brad Brownell and senior guard DaShaun Wood won't let that happen. In fact, Wright State, which knocked off Top 25 mainstay Butler on Tuesday night to win the Horizon tournament, has a chance to move past the first round in next week's NCAA tournament. Brownell can flat-out coach, but he also inherited a pretty good team from Paul Biancardi, led by the diminutive and hard-nosed Wood. Wood finished with 27 points in the 60-55 victory over Todd Lickliter's Bulldogs, but he got some help from 66 percent free throw shooter Will Graham — who knocked down four foul shots in the final 12 seconds to seal the deal. Butler is still a near-lock to go to the Big Dance by virtue of impressive victories against Notre Dame, Indiana, Tennessee, Gonzaga and Purdue early in the year. ...... Go-to guys Keoni Watson, Idaho: The 5-foot-10 guard hit the game-winner with 1.3 seconds left to give the No. 9 Vandals a win over No. 8 San Jose State in the first round of the WAC tourney. Ken Tutt, Oral Roberts: The senior guard sank a runner with 33 seconds left, which was good for his 2,000th points, to lead the Eagles to a win over Oakland and the Mid-Continent tourney title. DaShaun Wood, Wright State: The senior guard out of Detroit scored 27 points and had the tie-breaking trifecta with 1:02 left in a win over Butler that gave the Raiders an NCAA berth. Coaching scuttlebutt Southern Utah's Bill Evans lost his job after 15 years and a 209-223 career mark. ... Brad Brownell will likely be a target for Evansville, but it's unlikely he'll move again for another mid-major job. The former UNC-Wilmington coach, who has led Wright State to an NCAA berth this year, should be in line for something bigger. The other name we continue to hear is ex-Evansville star Marty Simmons. ... How about Buzz Peterson to TCU if and when Neil Dougherty gets let go? ... If you're Harvard and want a guy with an academic background who really gets after it, how about current Rhode Island assistant Pat Skerry — who went to Tufts. ... Williams College coach Dave Paulsen should also figure into the equation. ... Don't be surprised if Lon Kruger leaves UNLV for the Big Ten after the season. If he does, former Running Reb Reggie Theus would be a no-brainer in Vegas.

With Miami of OH winning it might bump us up to a 12 seed. Akron surely would have been seeded higher then us but we should be ahead of Miami plus this will put Miami in the top 100 rpi which also helps our cause.
Congrats Redhawks!!
Boy oh boy it seems like all the area teams will be dancing........WSU, Miami, & Xavier.

Ironically, we might be taking Akron's 12 seed.

Pauley, I was thinking the same thing plus Utah ST. losing really helped our cause for a 12 seed because Utah St. had and rpi of 46 and Akron's was 65.
New Mexico St. &George Washington is at70 & 71 the 2 spots ahead of us. It is possible that GW gets the last 12 seed. I hope I'm wrong.
Our record versus top 105 in the rip's is 6-3
30 Butler 2-1 41 Bradley 0-1 70 New Mexico St. 71 George Washington 72 Wright State 88 LSU 0-1 93 Miami 1-0 104 Loyola 2-0 105 Marist 1-0
Well, having both Akron and Utah St. lose really helped us but GW winning might be the last hurdle we needed too claim that coveted 12th seed. It will be interesting tomorrow evening.
