I'm not a fan of playing non D1 games, but I can live with it this year. Coach Donlon got a really late start in scheduling. He had to deal with putting together a staff, salvaging our 2010 recruiting class and start recruiting for 2011 all at the same time. I'm willing to give him a pass this year, but I want an all D1 schedule in the future.

With local products Adrien Payne and now Travis Trice headed to Mich State, we need to approach MSU for a future contract. I bet they would be willing to do another 2 for 1 with us so they could play in front of their hometown.

Looks like someone is reading this board for ideas again.

sixth, two thoughts. we did not get post season invites because we did not beat teams we should have beaten. if we had, we would have gone somewhere. second, when it comes to postseason invites non div i games are not even looked at, so winning 21 games with those two games on the schedule will be regarded as a 19 win season, which won't take us anywhere anyway. the real loser in this, imo, is the loyal season ticket holder who has forked out big bucks for 3 exhibition games.

November 27 vs. Richmond or Wright State - The Raiders and Spiders should be a good toss-up game. Wright State is one of the few teams in the Horizon League that challenged Butler, finishing 20-12 and 12-6 in league play. They were 0-3 against Butler though and got blown out in the conference title game, so my pick is the Spiders. Richmond was 26-9 and 13-3 in a good Atlantic 10 before losing to St. Mary's in round 1 of the NCAA's. they had solid non-conference wins over Missouri, Mississippi State, Florida, and took out Xavier in the conference tournament. Seniors Kevin Anderson and Justin Harper make this a dangerous team. www.hammerandrails.com/2010/8/10/1615290/the-basketball-non-conference

I hope we get at least one of the CIT games on TV too. Should help future recruiting.

We need to win our first game vs Richmond before we even get a chance to play Purdue and Richmond is going to be one heck of a good team this year.
