I keep hearing that we will be adding 3 teams and we want to make the announcment at the beginning of the season. If we cannot get all 3 teams lined up by then we will announce it at our conference tournament next year.

FWIW, a poster on CSU's board says the announcement will be made after this season. www.letsgovikes.com/forum/index.php/topic,1816.30.html

Given the statement that the HL will add 3 teams after this season I thought I'd add a few thoughts.
My favorite 3 teams to add: Oakland... Robert Morris...I know what they said, but still... Duquense...I know they are in the A-10, but how often do they go to the NCAA ?
More likely to add: Oakland Evansville Morehead State...Note that they are on our schedule this year
All three of these teams finished last season with an RPI in the top 200, while we were at 225. Oakland was at 127, Evansville was at 142, and Morehead was at 166, all in the top half of the RPI ranking.
Other teams I'd be interested in are Indiana State @ 139, W. KY @ 172, and E. KY @ 222.

I don't think a MVC or A-10 school is going to drop down to the HL no matter how long it has been since they have been to the NCAAs. For example, if we didn't go to the NCAAs under Brownell and it had been 20 years since we last made the dance, I still wouldn't want WSU to drop down to the Summit league. Schools that are serious about their athletics do not move down in conferences if they can prevent it.

Not necessarily Football. Oral Roberts is dropping to the Southland from the Summit. Why? They'll practically be guaranteed tourney appearances and the travel budget is a lot nicer.
I still don't think you'll see Duquesne, but the HL would be significantly better for them in the same way ORU's move is.
BTW - expect some southern flair to the expansion.
