PLEEEEEASE tell them to drop all of the stupid timeout games and just have the band play. This was mentioned during the first Fan Advisory Committee meeting. Expect a number of changes with game presentation this season. I think the Athletic Department is definitely on the right patch with some things that are in the works. Be excited about the future of the WSU program...the wheels are in motion! Raider Up!

Not sure how great of an idea it is to essentially 'rank' these schools/games. Could some of these schools be offended if they aren't in the top tier? Does it matter? And I agree, $20??? Come on---Times are tough, cut the public a deal. $17 or $15 just SOUNDS better than $20. Piss poor move, in my opinion. Damn

Damn This move was made based on a lot of research and most schools have their price structure based on who they are playing. The school across town has been doing it forever.

The school across town can probably afford to do this a heck of a lot better than we can. Just my thoughts It has nothing to do with what WE can afford. It is all about how much we think our opponents can afford. That is the research involved. We are expecting UC, OU, Butler, and Detroit to bring their fans to these games and they will be willing to pay a few bucks extra to see their teams play. Schools have found that they can increase revenue by charging more for their top home games or only selling tickets for certain home games as part of a package for multiple games. Milwaukee only sold tickets to their home game vs. Marquette as a 4 game ticket package last year. Valpo did something similar for their home game vs Purdue last year. I think Butler even charged more money for tickets to their best home games last year.

I think the 3 new tiers for ticket prices was a great idea. It shows that the athletic department is listening to fans and still looking at the big picture (covering their own costs). We know the athletic department needs to turn a profit on basketball to help fund itself. We also know people have been complaining about ticket prices for years too. This is a nice compromise. We will make more money off of these few premium games and still be able to lower prices for the less desirable games. Overall, it should help attendance. People are going to come out to see Butler and UC even if the price went up $3 from last year. Where we really benefit now is with the no name OOC games and crappy league games like YSU that people didn't want to pay $17 to see in the past. For only $10 now, we should see a nice increase in attendance for those games.

Don't be surprised if the Raiders Represent game where everyone gets in free for wearing WSU gear is either altered or eliminated. It never seems like our attendance is any higher than a normal paying crowd for those games anyway. I agree the tier strategy seems like a good idea - its hard to ask people to pay $17 bucks to come out on a Thursday night against YSU no matter how good our team is.
Also I don't know if this was ever announced but the Raider Rowdies are becoming an official arm of the Athletic Department now so they should have some more resources to help our student attendance at games going forward.
