This is why our student section sucks. Our students are usually too lazy to attend games and if they do come they think they are too cool to get involved. If they made it better and original it would be more fun to do. It has nothing to do with what is cool or not. also cin drummer I thought the same thing. None of those people are at the games. Going to a WSU game and sitting in the student section is like going to the gym; you see the same 25 people and none of them are their. It is funny that the student government made a copy cat "tradition" when they don't even attend games.

The 1st meeting I had with Mark and Corey this summer the UNI dance was a topic of conversation and creating a dance like it, but to a different song and using different dance moves was something I really wanted to do. But I don't want to be part of a total rip off. If it wasn't I'd be down there trying to get everyone involved.

It doesn't matter how cool or original the idea is, our students just don't care. Outside of the die hards like TBRF, the rest just won't participate in anything. My god, 1/2 that do show up to games won't even sit IN the student section, let alone show some kind of school spirt.

No you are absolutely right, expect for the creativity part haha. It looks like a very cheap and simple ripoff of that other danced posted above (the UNI dance). An effort made, but a cheap and lazy effort imho. I really think they looked at the UNI video and decided to make a minor change or two. What a waste. I just went and watched the UNI video and I agree with you on the lack of creativity and I rescind that from my post lol. I kind of hope they don't even try to go through with this. It's embarrassing enough to watch the students in the video try to pull this "dance" off. Could not agree more

I hope that everyone that is too proud to do a dance (that a school 1000 miles away does and no one else would have known existed if a link wasn't provided) is sending better ideas to the marketing department. If not, I hope they never again complain about a lack of student involvement.
Good Lord. Everyone should just wear Affliction T shirts or OSU gear and sit on their hands. That is much better and more original. Other people turn off the lights when lineups are introduced - we should probably get rid of that. No one has ever done the "Hey, (you suck)" chant before that students do constantly {sarcasm} Holding up cartoon characters behind the basket....seen it before - get rid of it.
I could go on but I won't because I'm not a student anymore and it doesn't affect me. The contradictory snobby attitude about this particular dance cracks me up though.

School pride and traditions have to start somewhere. I hope the students give it a shot and try it. I also hope they add good feedback afterwards on how to improve it and make it OUR own rather than just bitch and moan about it like they do about everything else. Christ, our student's piss poor attitude drives me nuts. You could promise them free WSU gear to wear, pick them up at the front of their dorms, drive them to the Nutter Center and carry them down to their seats in the front row and bring them free food and drinks and some of these fools would still find something to complain about.

Doing things like "you suck" or cartoon heads are a lot different than trying to start a tradition that isnt ours. I have no problems borrowing concepts but that's not the case here. We certainly didn't need to hire new people in the athletic dept if all we're going to do is copy and paste other ideas. A monkey can do that. And I'm trying to come up with a song and dance that would be better but as you can see from Raider Ruckus my dance moves are lacking haha

I'm not a student anymore either so this dance also has no impact on me personally but after having sat in the student section for 3+ years I am just looking realistically at this idea. TBRF is absolutely correct. This isn't a tradition when you essentially copy cat from another school. If we are going to copy ideas then make it something worth copying.

The "TBRF Green Roll" dominated Raider Ruckus, was an instant classic, and should be the student dance. Start with a little hand jive, a provocative pelvic thrust, and then hit the ground rolling baby, c'mon! I havent laughed that hard in awhile lol

Everybody here that is complaining about picking up something from another school, obviously hasn't heard our fight song. Lol
Traditions have to start somewhere, but they will only become traditions if they are continued. So find something, anything and see it through, you can fix or tweak it along the way. However originality would be a plus. Unless our tradition is to steal everbody else's tradition. Just make it fun or nobody will want to get involved.
Maybe do something like a media timeout freeze. At the 16 or 12 minute mark of the game, everybody freeze until the soon to come media timeout comes with the next play stoppage.

What did the students do back in the D II days? When basketball was played in an old gym or whatnot? Maybe something retro could be cool. Any old cheers or hand signs or traditions anyone can remember?
