Mark Howell played against (championship game) and was an All Tournament 5A Team first team selection with the Harris Twins who are going to Kentucky and both are ranked top five in the country.

Mark Howell. Surprised no one is talking about him. Seems like he is a complete unknown. People I work with are asking why WSU ran off a 3 star recruit, drummond, who received very little playing time, and replaced him with a kid, Howell, that has zero stars as a recruit. I hope he will be a pleasant surprise, not another "Navy guy" who was given a free ride after destroying Navy intramural leagues and signed sight unseen. Would not be surprised if Howell only stays a year before leaving for a Division 2 team. Waiting for wsutommygun to post another reply about folks bashing the team and players. If you look for info on Howell on the web there isn't much to see. Besides what opti posted in this thread and the video Big D posted in Howell's recruiting thread, there are another dozen videos of his team on youtube. He isn't a highly rated recruit. He was overshadowed on his team by one of his teammates that is headed to Virginia Tech. That is why I think he will be here more than 1 year. He is a team oriented guy that did whatever was needed of him for his team to be successful. I think he gets that he isn't going to play much as a freshman with the roster we have coming back. I think he appreciates the opportunity he has here at WSU and will make the most of it. In regards to Drummond, he left because he couldn't crack our top 10 and get into the rotation. His problem was his defense. His man to man was decent but he couldn't grasp our concept of team defense, in particularly, help defense.

Happy to see this addition. He should have a winning attitude. Now if can get a JUCO big man. Getting anxious for the season to start. Hopefully everyone will be healed and ready to play.

I hope we can land this young man. Perhaps having Young, Dixon, and now Howell on our team will help us in recruiting this young man. He looks like he could become a real stud player.

Howell is going to start classes at Wright State in a couple of weeks. He should benefit from the extra time working with his new teammates this summer. I wish Edogi would make up his mind one way or another. If he is coming to Wright State he really needs to get onto campus as soon as he can if he wants to play at all next year. We have a veteran team coming back. He is going to have a hard enough time cracking the rotation. It will be ever harder for him if he doesn't start learning the system now.

Is anyone optimistic that we'll land Edogi? Big D, what is your take?
Also, does anyone cover WSU recruiting? You know, to the point where they do things like actually call the recruits and write updates? What a concept. How do we have a D-I program and not one person that actively covers recruiting for us? Would be nice to get some comments from Edogi following questions like "What did you think about your visit to Wright State? How did the facilities compare to other schools you've visited? What did Coach Donlon sell you on? What was your impression of Coach Donlon? Would it be exciting to join a team that just won 23 games and has almost everyone returning?"

The NCAA is very strict about who is allowed to contact recruits. The media is allowed to contact a recruit and paid recruiting services are considered part of the media. No one from this site is allowed to contact a recruit. We are all considered boosters in the eyes of the NCAA and it would be a violation to talk to a recruit.

Big D, you direct all questions to this thread -- not allowing us to ask questions in the threads that are specific to those players -- and then you ignore my question?
C'mon man, not cool!
Haha. Just joking with you. What is your take/gut feeling on Edogi? We're not exactly facing stiff competition to land him, but something tells me he's not crazy about us. I really want this kid!

He is probably ignoring you because he already gave his take on Edogi one page back in this thread...... Edogi always planned on taking all 5 of his official visits before he makes his college choice. His plans to visit Tulsa and Nevada were in the works before he visited Wright State and Donlon was aware of that. I did not know about it until his AAU coach posted it on twitter. From what I hear, he enjoyed his visit to Wright State and hit it off with our coaches and players. I don't know if that will overcome the travel differences to get to Wright State vs traveling to Tulsa or Nevada from his home in Arizona.

I don't have a take on where he will go yet. He hasn't completed his final 2 official visits yet so it is impossible to predict how he will like those schools. Based on his first 3 official visits, I know Wright State was his leader. His last 2 visits matter more because he is visiting 2 programs that have as much or more to offer than Wright State does. You said "we're not exactly facing stiff competition to land him." I'm going to have to disagree. Edogi's last 2 visits are to Nevada and to Tulsa. They are both in better conferences than the HL. They both have bigger fan bases. They both have much better basketball histories and post season success than us and they are both MUCH closer to home than us. Tulsa is in Conference USA which was the 11th rated conference last year and is usually 1-2 spots ahead of the HL. Nevada is in the MWC, which was the #1 rated conference last year and has been the top non-BCS conference in the country for much of the last decade. Both conferences are pretty consistent multi-bid conferences. They both have larger fan bases than us. Tulsa averaged about 500 more fans than us last year and Nevada averaged 1500 more fans than us last year. Wright State has 2 NCAA tournament appearances in our history and we were one and done both years. Tulsa has 14 NCAA tournament appearances. They advanced to the second round 5 times and to the sweet sixteen twice and elite eight once. Nevada has 6 NCAA tournament appearances. They advanced to the second round twice and sweet sixteen once. I consider both of them very stiff competition.

I'm not sure how closely you follow recruiting, but A LOT can change in the period of 10 days. Hell, a lot can change day-to-day, let alone 10 days. So, it was a valid question. Was looking for the latest update.
