Nice offensive game by WSU. We shot nearly 58% from the field, 14 of 17 from the line, and over 50% from the arc. WEe were out rebounded again, by 5, but made up for it with 4 fewer TOs . We only had 9. To date we are now shooting over 41% in HL and BB games. That sounds a lot better than being in the high 30s, but a lot less than what we were all probably expecting back in November.
I thought Vest might have played some yesterday. Either he isn't ready for game action yet or that is a coaching decision to not play him. Likewise, Balwigaire only played about 3 minutes. Cuffee and Pacher only played 4. If we are going to let anyone go during the off season, I think these 4 are the most likely, though I never like to see anyone "cut" after they have committed to WSU.

So you think Matt Vest could be a candidate to be released even with his strong family ties to the program? I guess I could see that happening. Can't say that I'd be very disappointed

I can't see us getting rid of Pacher. Big men are too hard to come by and he still has a ton of potential. I wouldn't be surprised to see Vest give up his scholarship and pay his own way to stay here next year. I could definitely see us giving up on Cuffee and/or Balwigaire though. Neither has lived up to expectations. It's hard to find good big men or even big men projects. It's a lot easier to find guards. Given the fact that WSU recently hosted a JUCO guard, my guess is that at least one of those guards won't be back next year.

I really had high hopes for Vest going into the season. Now I fear he is going to have a John David Gardner type injury prone career where he never gets to reach his potential.

I really had high hopes for Vest going into the season. Now I fear he is going to have a John David Gardner type injury prone career where he never gets to reach his potential. When season ticket holders got the option to buy replica WSU jerseys at the start of the year and customize them with any number I got a #24 jersey. That should tell you the expectations I had of watching Vest this year. I agree that I can't see us giving up on Pacher and his potential. Vest either. Battle has been in college a long time - he might choose to move on like Grote did a couple years ago instead of coming back. Balwigaire will be a senior guard that won't be starting and won't be first off the bench either. Does he want to kill himself all summer in workouts for that? We know at least one person won't be back since we are technically over-signed for next season already. It will be interesting...

I don't know if we really want to run off anyone unless we already have their replacement lined up. Last year we had a couple of players leave at the end of the season. We brought in Reggie, Balwigaire, and Cuffee. Two of those 3 are now being discussed as players we would like to get rid of. I don't want 2-3 guys leaving and our coaching staff scrabbling to sign anyone witha warm pulse (like we did with Mpondo and Battle 2 years ago). We need an impact guard that will be a consistent scoring threat. We could also use another true big that loves to hit the boards. If we don't have a legit shot at anyone that fits those descriptions, I want to stick with the guys we have. Donlon doesn't need to get a reputation as a coach that runs off players every year.
