WTH? Young hasn't practiced in 3 weeks and this is the first we're hearing about it? The reporting on this team is top-notch. There is nothing wrong with the reporting. The problem is Donlon has closed practices and doesn't share enough with the media.

The problem is Donlon has closed practices and doesn't share enough with the media. Why report on Dixon, Vest, Pacher and Darling for the last several weeks, but nothing about Young? Weird.

No mention of Young on the pregame injury report. Dixon is out. Griffin bumped his head in practice yesterday, so they're holding him out for the exhibition tonight. Everyone else is good to go, apparently.

Billy Donlon said Miles Dixon is questionable for season with labrum tear in shoulder. Dixon didn't play tonight.

Wow. Losing Dixon for the year would be a huge loss. Not sure how bad Darling's injury was but it didn't look good. Then with Sledge possibly not playing this year suddenly it seems like a dark cloud is hanging over this team.

Maybe "it just seems like", but we seem to suffer significant injuries every year in practice. But then again, we do seem to have some guys who miss time every year to these injuries. Are we recruiting "accident prone" athletes or are the practices likely to produce serious injuries? If, in theory, the practices determine who will start, do the players fight so hard in practice that injuries are the result?

Obviously practices have a lot to do with who gets the most minutes, or at least I hope because if was based on game performance Reggie should be playing about 5 minutes a game. Can't shoot and he's an out of control turnover waiting to happen. But yes I agree the team does seem to have more practice injuries then any other team i can think of. Miles came a long ways last year and turned into a great scoring threat off the bench for last years team.. I was really looking forward to seeing what he can do after already having one year at WSU under his belt.

Only caught the end of the coach's show tonight. What did he say about Cole?

I am now able to get wsuraiders.com by using Google Chrome but, still can't get a workable site thru Internet Explorer. Anyway, last night at the coach's show Bob Noss talked to me about it and, I appreciate that he was interested in my problem.

Weird. I initially couldn't get anything legible in Chrome, but IE worked fine. Chrome seems to work if I reload the page now. Hopefully, Bob will have someone look at it.

grossie, maybe a need to add another search engine or whatever they call it ( I am kind of dangerous when it comes to pushing buttons without knowing what I am doing )...anyway, Bob Noss was aware that I had posted something about wsuraiders.com. I did tell him that I was able to get it thru IE or Chrome on my brother John's computer.

He said Darling had a foot injury and was questionable for the game on Sunday. He didn't specify what type of foot injury, and he didn't say ankle, so I'm not sure how serious it may or may not be.

I remember playing basketball one year a long time ago and coming away with a sprained foot. I had had a lot of sprained ankles as a kid, but I thought the sprained foot was much worse. It felt like the majority of the bones in my foot had been broken. It probably took at least two weeks to get over it.

Hopefully Cole is OK. I'm still trying to digest the fact that Dixon is out for the year most likely. But the silver lining there is that he'll be back next season as a fifth-year senior if he does miss this season. And with a torn labrum, I just don't see how there's any way he'll play this season. We are much better off short term and long term if Dixon plays this season. We need his ability to drive and create his own shot. We don't have many players on this team with his ability to create. Long term, we need his scholarship next year. If he redshirts, we are out of scholarships for next year and haven't signed a post player yet to replace AJ. We are going to have a ton of guards and minimal size inside. We have been trying to use that last scholarship to land a JUCO post player. In regards to Dixon's torn labrum, it isn't necessarily going to keep him from playing this season. The labrum provides stability to the shoulder. Overhead athletes like a baseball player or quarterback would absolutely not be able to play with a torn labrum. They would have no accuracy with throwing and they would have a ton of pain. You can play basketball with a torn labrum, but it can be painful with repetitive contact to that shoulder. Cole played most of last season with a torn labrum. Most of the problems he had was diving for loose balls onto that shoulder and banging under the basket and taking a lot of contact with that shoulder. Dixon could play this season, he is just going to have a lot of pain with it if he does. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play the first few games of the year to see how it goes before he makes a decision. He has until game 6 or 7 to make a decision to undergo surgery and take the medical redshirt.
