I don't care who starts. I just want to see more size on the court this season. I'm tired of watching our Raiders get their butts kicked on the boards year after year.

Reggie is listed as 5-8. He is lucky to be 5-7 with shoes on. He isn't going to play SG for us. He and Hopkins did play together at the same time last year. Who do you think would play the 2 starting guards will be besides Reggie and Hop?

Who do you think would play the 2 starting guards will be besides Reggie and Hop? When they were on the court together, Reggie ran the point and Hopkins was the SG. Either way, I don't expect them to play together much this year. I cannot imagine Joe Thomasson not starting at SG by the time conference play starts.

I have a hunch that Thomasson will be starting and Karena. But you may be correct that Donlon will begin the season with hold overs from last year. But Thomasson and Karena will be juniors, so I will be very surprised if they don't play very prominant roles this coming season. Donlon has pursued Thomasson for at least 3 or 4 years. Karena appears to be a talented player with plenty of ability as a legit center. But I could also see Sledge really stepping up this year and being the starter.

I would love to see us play bigger and have Sledge and Karena on the court together at times.

Might be time to revisit this.
I would like to see:
1- Reggie 2- Hopkins 3- Griffin/Thomasson 4- S Davis 5- Karena
Yoho probably starts over Davis if he isn't suspended.
I wonder how ready R Davis is to contribute.

Not sure how much Sledge really would of contributed to this team. I would like to see Parker Ernsthausen play this year.

Not sure how much Sledge really would of contributed to this team. I would like to see Parker Ernsthausen play this year. Sledge would have started and played a minimum of 20-25 min a game this year. He is a major loss because we only have 1 post player on our roster now that is ready to play D1 ball. Parker Ernsthausen is not even close to being ready to contribute this year. He needs some major work in the weight room and on his offensive skill set. He is 6-9 and only weighs 210 lbs. Kendall Griffin is 5 inches shorter and weighs 5 lbs more than Parker. Parker is a good prospect and should have a bright future after a redshirt year. If we played him now, I am afraid we would get him injured because he isn't strong enough to bang in the post. Zach Lett is physically more ready to play this year being 6-9 and weighing in at 240 lbs. He is also raw and would benefit from a red shirt year. This is probably going to force one of them into action this year unless Donlon plans on using Roderick Davis at center. He is 6-8 and weighs 225 lbs but he is more of a PF.

Might it be better to save both Lett and Ernsthausen till next year and just wish for the best for this season, rather than ruining one or both of these young men. Realistically can either one of these guys save this team at this stage of their development?

Might it be better to save both Lett and Ernsthausen till next year and just wish for the best for this season, rather than ruining one or both of these young men. Realistically can either one of these guys save this team at this stage of their development? This team doesn't need saving. There is still plenty of talent on this roster. We are going to either play with a smaller line up when Karena is out of the game or we go with an inexperienced post player as our primary back up center. Lett and Ernsthausen would have both benefitted from a redshirt year. That may not be in the cards for one of them now. We were in a similar position Donlon's first year as WSU's head coach. Neither AJ or Cole were ready for D1 basketball. Cole was grossly underweight and AJ was both underweight and raw. We didn't have the luxury of redshirting either due to our lack of depth. Based on the past, I would guess that Donlon will play one of these young men and Roderick Davis at center behind Karena. Even if he decided to roll the dice and redshirt them both I still think we will be ok if we play a smaller lineup. When Karena is out of the game, Donlon could still have some decent size on the floor if he plays 2 guards and 3 forwards: Roderick Davis, Stephen Davis and JT Yoho. Ultimately, this shows an ongoing problem with Donlon's roster management. He has 13 scholarships and consistently choses to go guard heavy and we are always one injury/suspension/eligibility problem away from having no depth in the post. It was a problem when he was an assistant under Brownell and now that he is a head coach. We consistently lose the rebounding battle in most games because we don't have enough size or depth at the 4/5 spots. I don't know what it is going to take for Donlon to realize that he needs to change the composite of his roster.

Question about Lett if anybody knows the answer...he's got size, and played in a high school basketball hotbed. Were we his only offer? If so, any idea why? That doesn't mean that much see Norris Cole). If we play him, we just need him to play solid D as a back-up and spell Karena 10 minutes a game (with Roderick Davis probably getting the other 5-10 minutes). That is what AJ could not do as a freshman when he was pressed into action.
Back to Starting 5: I could see Thomasson or Yoho starting by league play, but to start off the season.... 1- Hopkins (Indy 41 is probably right...Hopkins would run the point if he is on the court with Reggie) 2- Reggie 3- Griffin 4- S Davis 5- Karena

Ecb, not sure if the info is up to date, but the recruiting board shows us as his only offer.

I think Yoho is going to be suspended for the first few games of the year. We will most likely go with as many veterans as we can at the beginning of the year: Reggie, Chrishawn, Kendall, S. Davis and Karena are my guesses to start the first game. I think Yoho and Thomasson will be in the starting line up sometime before HL play starts.
