There goes the NKU rumors. :-) In terms of everything, it seems like a step up, but I'm surprised he didn't get or wait to land a job at a Power 5 conference school. WOnder if the controversy from a couple years ago impacted that. Either way, UWGB will have a tough time next year replicating the past success even more. They lose 3 of their top 4 scorers, including two that are 6 -8, to graduation.

The controversy from a couple of years ago was part of it, but the bigger issue is the way his team choked the last 2 years. Green Bay was easily the most talented team in the HL the last 2 years and failed to make the NCAA tournament. BCS schools hire mid-major coaches that regularly get their team to the NCAAs and/or win a game or 2 in the tournament once they get there. I hope Green Bay finds a good coach to replace him. We need the HL to be strong in the next couple of years if we are going to be able to land the teams we want in HL expansion.

Sounds like Trey Lewis has been granted his release from Cleveland Sate as a graduate transfer.
That's the other side of redshirting your younger players or bringing in a transfer. Once they get really good they can walk away from you and play for a high major.

If they really are transferring to get their graduate degree it will take them 2 years to complete it anyways. It will stop a lot of majors from pouching mid-major talent. They won't want to tie up a scholarship for 2 years for 1 year of play.

Big step for the HL. It shows they are serious about big time basketball. It may sway a few recruits our way that were on the fence with other leagues. Money can have a big effect on recruits, especially those from families without a lot of resources.

I think it is a good step, too. I'm not sure I like that the corresponding females on scholarship aren't lady basketball players. I understand WSU would be in a position to help those that qualify with the most need ( but we have had guys that didn't need as much help in the past ). Wait and see? Or, worth a comment? Not sure which sports has full rides for one or more player but, the flexibility of the ( I guess ) 13 payouts to females shuts out help for any of other male sports. Anyway, HL seems to be getting some attention for acting on this.
