R4life, if more raider fans took that position div iii games would disappear from our schedule. Too many fans accept what is given without so much as a call to athletics expressing displeasure. So they just keep coming.:-O Most of us will come no matter who we play. We are there to see WRIGHT STATE play, not the competition.

I would encourage anyone that is on the fence about getting season tickets to consider getting the "value section" season ticket package. You can purchase tickets in sections 203, 209, 216, or 222 above the rail for $99. You can also get a family 4 Pack for only $260 in those areas. Those seats are in the 4 corners of the arena and still have pretty good site lines. That really is a good value for the cost if you only go to the games we know about now. We have home games vs. the 8 other HL teams, George Mason, Miami, and Belmont. That's $9 a game (or less than $6 for the family 4 pack) to see some pretty darn good basketball teams. We will probably end up finishing the schedule with a non D1 team. Even if you want to skip the exhibition game and the non-D1 game, you are getting a really good deal. You cannot attend a movie nowadays for that amount of money.

I renewed and said earlier in the week that I didn't see why someone would have to see the rest of the schedule. I said that knowing what bigd said. We have Horizon league games plus three I'm excited about. I don't want a non d1 team on our schedule period! However I'm ready to support our young men!

The value section now allows me the opportunity to afford to bring my family! I'm soooo excited. We'll be getting the family 4 pack.

"We are there to see Wright State play, not the competition.
Sixth, I think you just expressed the opinion of the vast majority of raider season ticket holders. I would guesstimate that of the what, maybe 2000 or so remaining season ticket holders, maybe 90-95 percent of them feel just the way you do. As for that remaining 5-10 percent that would like to see the raiders play a challenging and competitive schedule from top to bottom, well beck, they will still come to most of the games. It is not those folks you need to be concerned about. It is the thousands and thousands of fans of div i hoops in the area who would love to see high quality, competitive hoops but no interest in watching a div iii team or other low rated opposition. Not to go too far back in raider history but in 2007 we played butler to a packed house and in my section alone I saw a dozen or so fans wearing the red and blue of the team across town. I spoke to a few of them and they all said they came because it was two very good teams playing a very competitive game. The non wsu Nfans who would like to see good div i hoops will find very little to attract them in the schedules we have put together the last few years. So sixth, I think it is safe to say that your scheduling philosophy as it is above will require you to tolerate, be accepting of, happy with, several things and if you can you will be fine. First, you need to accept a beautiful nutter with hundreds upon hundreds of seats covered by tarps. I guess to make it look fuller than it really is. Second, you need to accept an 11k arena with 3k fans sitting around and lots of empty seats. Third, you need to be happy to read a morning paper sports headline like "raiders dominate div iii st Joseph's, or whoever. You need to be content with all those things because you will continue to see them. If I were still a season ticket holder those things would embarrass me about my program but maybe you have a greater tolerance for them than I.

What is the average age for a wright state season ticket holder, my guess is probably around 60. I have not been a season ticket holder since around 2000. I became a WSU fan because they were fun to watch under Underhill and one of the dominant teams at the Division II level. The team has created little excitement over the last 20 years and this is why the fan base is shrinking. Schilling killed the program with the horrible product he put on the floor and his family friendly marketing attempts. In order to build the fan base you need to get students to the game and than keep them coming after graduation. Thirty years ago most of the fans were male students and their buddies. The key is to market to the male students by putting a great team on the floor playing against mid-major level competition at home and top tier teams on the road. I will stay at home and watch the games on the HLN, unless they are playing against a decent opponent. I'm not going out in the cold to watch them play nobody teams. The one game I am planning on seeing in person this year is WSU vs OSU.

In fact, I don't know f you ever attended games if you think that the majority of fans at a game where ever male students and their buddies. Our student turnout has never been great and it sure in hell has never been the "majority" of people in attendance.

I was a season ticket holder for the first ten years of the Nutter Center. At first there were 6 of us and then after 10 years it was just me. As I remember it back when we were in the P.E. building the majority of the fans were students sitting on the bleachers making a lot of noise, there were also a few older folks in the cushy seats back then. Maybe you are right that the average age of season ticket holders is closer to 30 and it is because most of the folks that I know in their 50's and 60's have stopped going to the games because they aren't as much fun as they used to be or we remember them as being.
