We start the inning with a Roman ground rule double, Fucci sacrifices the runner to 3rd, scores on an error on a hit by Morrow. Raiders lead 2-0

Through 5, Jack Van Horn has 66 pitches and has allowed only one hit, and has 3 strikeouts.

WSU cooks up something in the 5th inning. Lead-off single past the mound by Murhpy. Fowler popped out foul and Timm struck out. Snyder doubled down the right field line leaving runners at 2nd and 3rd. Mitch Roman came to bat already 2-2 on the night, and hit a ground ball up the middle. 2 runs score. WSU leads 4-0, and is still threatening. WSU has chased the starting pitcher, as ND has gone to the bullpen.

Van Horn gives up a hit, but WSU defense does its job. Van Horn (77 pitches) has thrown 6 innings of 2 hit baseball.

WSU leaves one on base in the 6th. Raider need 9 outs to move on, and will send Jack Van Horn out for a 7th inning of work.

Van Horn is cooking something really really special for WSU. 7 scoreless innings, 5 strikeouts...against a team that scored 13 runs against us on Friday.

Van Horn dances around back to back hits, and has thrown 8 innings of scoreless baseball against one of the best offensive teams in college baseball. WSU needs 3 outs to the finals. Van Horn could be going for a complete game shutout in the 9th

Andrew Elliot is coming in to pitch the 9th.
Probably the performance of the year goes to that spot start by Jack Van Horn. Final line on Van Horn:
8.0 IP, 5 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 106 pitches (72 strikes) Is in line for the win assuming Elliot can get the save.

Wright State has reached their first regional final game. They will play tomorrow against Illinois and will be the home team in the first game. This is the first time a Horizon League team has reached the regional championship game.
Illinois has only lost one game at home all season, so a mountain is ahead. But we've eliminated two teams in one day, and that's a lot to celebrate!
Congratulations to Coach Lovelady, and all of the student athletes.

LOL! Told you it was a bad idea to start Van Horn. Hehe. I obviously know nothing about pitching.
But I stand by my statement that Timm should be batting 8th or 9th, not 3rd!
Way to go Raiders! What a season! Very excited about this; watched every pitch tonight and can't wait for tomorrow. We can get this done!

I would guess we would run out Jeremy Randolph tomorrow with Scholtens pitching 8 innings this morning. Mamer could go too.

twizman, there is pressure to batting 3rd. I consider Timm to be a team leader with a high baseball IQ but, not that I believe in such things of course, I wouldn't dare fool with the lineup now.
I think the scouting report will determine the starting pitcher. I'd have started Randolph in the HL final ( Van Horn got that start ) but, now I worry that Jeremy hasn't seen action in quite a while. No margin for error.
Congrats to the guys. Have fun.

Plus our bullpen is as fresh as we could hope for at this point, thanks to the last two starters going 8 IP apiece. Trapino should be good for at least 2 innings maybe 3. Elliott is still relatively fresh. We're playing with house money. I love this feeling! Way to go Raiders!
