B- for the schedule, and F for Donlon's effort (or lack thereof). There are a ton of contests away from home, and even though they mostly are not against marquee opponents, that should still help prepare us for league play. Last year, a lot of fans complained about the schedule and how it wasn't going to be challenging----and we dropped a bunch of those games. Hard to tell with mid and low majors who'll turn out to be a tough game or not from one year to the next. That said, it will be very challenging in the DI portion of the non-league (12 games) t0 go 9-3 or better. OSU, Evansville, Belmont (2x), GMU will be tough games, and even Miami should be a tough, close game as usual. We always seem to struggle against MAC teams on the road (BGSU), then have that tournament, as well as what was a decent Western Carolina team on the road also.

C+ for the schedule because of the 2 non D1 games. The point of the OOC schedule is to prepare the team for conference play. Not sure how playing a couple of Non D1 teams helps with that goal. There is only a slim chance of getting an at large bid with this schedule. It would require WSU to beat OSU, lose no more than 2 or 3 games, and go deep in the HL Tourney. Since there is realistically no chance of an at large bid Donlon should play everyone during the OOC portion, get them battle ready, and have the team well rested for conference play.

The point of the OOC schedule is to prepare the team for conference play. Not sure how playing a couple of Non D1 teams helps with that goal. Have you looked at the roster? We have 7 freshmen on this team and the roster as a whole is mostly new faces. Playing a couple of D2 teams allows our staff a chance to get some of those freshmen on the court because most of the OOC schedule is made up of solid competition that we are going to have a hard time beating. There isn't a chance in hell we are getting an at large bid this year. We lost 90% of our scoring from last year in the 5 seniors that graduated. Four of those 5 graduates are playing pro ball this year. This team is a rebuilding team. We only have 7 players on our roster with any D1 experience and most of them were role players on last year's team. We have 10 new faces on this roster and as I stated above, 7 of them are true freshmen. There is some nice talent on this roster but most of those guys need a few years in the weight room. I like this team. I think they will be fun to watch, but we could realistically finish anywhere from the bottom of the HL to a top 3 finish. It all depends on how fast our new players gel and learn how to play ball at the D1 level. Thinking that an at large bid was ever a realistic goal for this team is insane.

Everyone in the league is playing several non-1s. I am okay with this schedule.
