09, I think a low major tournament is about where we belong. Hopefully we can take the final game.

I think the freshmen are playing like freshmen. We are a poor shooting team that does not hit the offensive glass with any kind of rebounding. I see a problem there.

I think the freshmen are playing like freshmen. How would you know? Donlon barely plays any of the freshmen.

I've almost come bto the conclusion that BD doesn't want to succeed. He can't go away from what he knows. Every great or good coach plays to the strength of his team not the opponent. Will probably be my last year for season tickets if he is still the coach. We have some height possibly next year that no other DI team would offer. Great possibilities. Hopefully they will be diamonds in the rough that were unrecognized. I think if anyone would get an offensive rebound BD would bench them. We are the only team I watch that when we shoot it is time for everyone to sprint to the other end of the court. He still doesn't understand if we get the offensive rebound that is great defense. I wouldn't mind as much if we played exciting basketball and lost as playing dull basketball and losing. I can go to a high school game and watch that game and it is cheaper.

My biggest pet peeve with Donlon is the fact that he doesn't play his younger players unless forced to because of lack of depth. We used Stephen Davis some early on last year when Sledge was out but gave him next to no playing time down the stretch. Now we are expecting him to play major minutes this year and perform like a veteran. Hard to do that when you didn't get much experience in the past. Benzinger is getting a little bit of time on the court. R Davis is getting desperation minutes from Donlon because we have no bigs, but our other freshman are getting next to no time on the court. We lose 3 senior guards this year. Those freshman are going to be expected to play major minutes next year. We are going to see the exact same issues next year as we are this year because of that. You cannot just rely on upperclassmen. You need to use your bench if you want to keep people fresh and build some experience for the future.

So much for that run and gun offense we were told to expect this year.

I totally agree with Green and Gold and so would coach Brown. On the post game show coach Brown said that the Horizon League is a one bid league and the only games that matter are the conference games. That is why, if Donlon had any sense, he would be playing everyone now and getting them ready for league play. Our core players are already worn out. Yoho came up short on two successive foul shots because he had no legs left under him. This team is so talented and should be undefeated if only Donlon could bring in a couple of decent big men. Our guys are undersized and they are getting beat up and they are drained after only the first two weeks of the season. It is just a sad state of affairs. If he is not careful injuries are going to start happening because the players are playing out of position and they are playing way to many minutes. And don't anyone say the problem is that Donlon was counting on Sledge. Sledge was a marginal talent and would not of made that big of a difference.

It isn't about Sledge being a great player or marginal player. It is about Sledge being able to give us depth inside. Did you watch any of our games last year? Did you notice we were barely above .500 to start the season when Sledge was suspended and we ended up finishing the year 21-15? Sledge made us a better team because he gave us depth and some bulk inside. We didn't have to worry about keeping AJ out of foul trouble when Sledge came back. We didn't have to put 6-6 Yoho in a center when AJ got into foul trouble. Everyone got to play less minutes and stay fresher/healthier. It is all about having depth. Sledge wasn't going to be an All HL player for us this year, but he was going to be able to give us 15-20 minutes a game in the post and at least be able to play good defense and rebound for us. Every time Karena came out of the game last night, FIU pounded the ball inside and took advantage of their size. They wouldn't have been able to do that if we would have had Sledge.

BD's offensive scheme doesn't match up well with the present team. His pass, pass offense only works if we are hitting threes. He needs to have two different schemes with this team. One is designed for three point shooting with screens and one with movement and setting screens for backdoor passes.

This isn't good. We have taken 4 shots tonight and all 4 were 3 point attempts.
