This game has not been fun. We look disoriented. Then don't watch. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Raiders battle Valpo tonight.

So...
We've successfully laid another egg in front of another excellent crowd. A great crowd giveaway, a great student turnout. Nothing screams "We want you to buy season tickets" by sucking a fat one. In the last two seasons, we are 3-5 in home games where we have over 4500 fans, we are 0-3 when we draw 6000+ fans. ZERO AND THREE.
No wonder we average around 4k a game. I'm kind of glad I live in Michigan so I don't have to watch 6000 people leave the Nutt House disappointed wondering why we continue to perform like shit.
Oh, and let me remind you, our next 5 games are absolutely brutal...we could legitimately go 0-5. Lost the must win game. Pin it on what you want, it's on our lack of size. It looked like an NBA team against a highschool JV team.

I'm kind of glad I live in Michigan The feeling is mutual. Your whining is annoying enough on the board. I don't think any of us would want to stomach it in person.

I don't disagree with you about playing more zone Dr. J but it just isn't going to happen. The only way Karena gets protected is when he is pulled from the game and we go with our 4 guard 1 small forward lineup. I don't get why we seem to hate big guys! I don't follow recruiting that closely but I don't think we have any size coming. One of the guys sitting out this year is tall but looks like he would blow away in a light breeze. Has anyone noticed Maverick Morgan hardly plays for Illinois? I'm not sure how good the kid is but he at least has a division 1 body. We need a transfer like that. We have 2 post players sitting out this year. Parker Ernsthausen was 6-9, 210# at the start of this season. He has put on 10# since arriving at WSU this past summer. He will probably play between 220-230# next year. Zach Lett was 6-9, 240# at the start of this season. He put on 15# since he arrived at WSU this past summer. He will probably play around 245-250# next season. Roderick Davis is 6-8, 225#. He came in at 215# this past summer. He will hopefully be in the 230-240# range next year. Karena is 6-10, 255#. We will have plenty of size next year. Glad that we will have some size next year with Ernsthausen and Lett. However, has anyone seen them in practice? Can they play on the inside? How do they compare to Karena?

First we lost Sledge. Than we have Yoho and Davis out with injuries. Who knew that could happen? So we now have 2 tall men available to confront perhaps the biggest squad in the HL. And even with that R. Davis saw very little action tonight. I don't recall Karena sitting at all in the second half until he fouled out and we went with 5 guards. Part of his fouling out may have been a direct result of not getting a rest in the second half. Playing your one big man non-stop against 2 or 3 of their big men is very taxing IMO. I know that may be "the ideal" for the Coach, but most teams have at least 6 big men and often more like 7,8, or more counting walk-ons. Next season we may have 6 bigs at most.
Interesting, but just tonight on the way home my wife and I were discussing our injuries over recent years. It "seems" like serious injuries have become the norm for WSU, with players out for the season or for many games, not just one or two. This seems to have come about with the Brad/Billy teams of late. I know I'm old and maybe have a worse memory than before, but it just seems in recent years we have become more prone for serious injuries. I'm wondering if the practices have become even tougher than under all of our earlier coaches. If so, I'm not sure what that is buying us.
I think our guys played very hard tonight and left it all on the court. I was thrilled by their efforts. But maybe playing some of the "other guys" more minutes may have helped sustain the team for 40 minutes rather than 34 or 35 minutes.
Speaking of which, does anyone know why we didn't red shirt Stacey this year. He has played 6 minutes in 3 games early in the season. If he needs more development, why didn't we red shirt him? I just don't understand his situation. Is he not on scholarship? I thought I read once that he was. Just wondering if anyone has info on his status.

Well tonight we played more trapping aggressive zone than I have seen before from a BD team. We ended the first half and it slowed Valpo down. Again, we can't hit wide open shots. This is the result of being without two good players with injures and not. Enough back up on the interior. We ended the last part of the game with 5 guards on the court. We lost, didn't play at the level we are capable of, but never gave up or in. The press tonight produced more turn overs than easy baskets. I am proud of the team for not giving up.

Wolf, he is a walk on. We have three very good freshmen guards. Two are outside shooters and one is a slasher.
