Keith, what an odd post considering we are in the glory days of our D1 history. It may be true that defense gets wins but, we have had many nights, this season alone, of good offense. We missed shots and that made the offense look bad but, we had one more attempt than Milwaukee and I assume you think they blew us out of the gym.
You would expect to get more defensive than offensive rebounds so, if you're missing then it skews the number. I think it is fair to say rebounding was a problem.
I'm just messing with Keith...he doesn't come up with any new thoughts and, worst of all he wants to hold the Raiders to a high standard while never wavering in his love for the Cleveland Browns.

Why has this problem developed? I thought ni we have proved that the BD philosophy of defense, defense, defense doesn't work in today's DI basketball. You cannot compete in DI without some inside presence. We have brought in more guards than front court players in the BD era. We have three freshmen guards who are good offensive players. Do we have the coaches to further developed them. I have questions about that because of what has happened with Hopkins. He was an offensive threat with Butler but has not further developed under BD. Some of this has been bad luck. I do hope he uses this as an opportunity to develope the freshmen. I don't expect to get another win but I do want to see a positive attitude. I will still be at every game and cheering for the Raiders.

I think it's a little far-fetched to think we won't win again. We are usually competitive at home..and still have UIC, YSU, Milwaukee, and Oakland still to come into the Nutter Center. While I'm not confident in beating any of those teams at this point in time, over the last 10 years, we have been very difficult to beat at home overall, I think we probably average 2 to 3 home losses per year, without looking up all the stats. We've already lost 3...I can't imagine losing 7.

Dr J, I don't think we are playing the type of defense we are used to seeing ( otherwise giving up 30 points in a half would be more noticeable ). I think our style has allowed for more of the balance you've asked for. The problem is you've got to make some shots. I also think Mike Karena is just fine ( not to mention Steven Davis and JT Yoho adding something when healthy ). Like I say...make some shots. FWIW, Dr J, I often wonder about going back to games when less than 100 points are scored ( combined )...that's my idea of defense.

Well when we are playing 5 guards on the floor all at once the game is not fun to watch. I think if we don't have Stephen Davis, JT or Kendall back we might not win another game the rest of the season. If we do I will be surprised. I will be out to cheer on but it is not going to be fun to watch. Next year if we have all the players back plus the red shirts we will be a tough opponent.
