Ok, some people agree, still no reason to be a jerk.

Someone said it earlier about the two remaining seniors, but I'll definitely not miss Hop---he's done nothing consistently except play completely inconsistent. I hope when the other two return, Grant Benzinger and Joe T. take up some of his minutes.

Announcer were being kind calling it "intriguing" that we let 34 seconds run off the clock.

Why on earth do we let Benzinger fight to get free for a three the whole game. We should be setting double screens to get him open looks.

I am baffled. I am really baffled by our strategy/play at the end of this game.

Me too. Collie is a nice kid, but he isn't a good D1 PG by any stretch of the imagination. Neither is Howell, or frankly anyone on this roster except for possibly Joe T. (if he played there). I'll give Howell credit, he played a nice game tonight...but that is frankly the first flash of anything he showed the last two years. Collie played well enough the last few games to earn some time tonight...it's not like Reggie did anything Collie couldn't.

it's not like Reggie did anything Collie couldn't. Yeah, he actually did. He took some shots and scored some. Collie very rarely looks to even take a shot. If makes it really easy for a defense to guard 4 players instead of 5 because they know one of them isn't going to shoot. Big D mentioned in another thread that he was more worried about the PG position than the post next year. I am getting that way myself. Collie and Howell are the only returning players next year that have spent any time at the position here at Wright State. Neither one is going to help us get back to the top of the HL. They just aren't good D1 players.

Our starting PG had 0 assists, 5 fouls and 4 points. Howell had a better game. So I really think if we go guard shopping we need a good 6-2" PG that can play D and make a good pass instead of taking a 3 point shot every time he is open.

I won't fault Collie for looking to distribute and running the offense, as opposed to pounding the ball into the ground and chucking three's. At the end of the day, I think a lot of us can agree that the most worrisome, and ironic thing given who our head coach is and his background, is the lack of quality play by the PGs on this roster. Hop just never developed into the player he was supposed to be, Joe T. has played well but has been forced to play out of position due to all the injuries, Howell hasn't improved in two years, and after two years of improvement, Reggie regressed.

just a couple of thoughts. first, ecb, there are no "donlen bashers" here. just raider fans who question whether he is the coach to make us a better program. honestly, if one looks at everything that has transpired during bis watch a pretty compelling argument could be made that the program has gone downhill under his watch. if you disagree that does not make you a "donlen apologist". just means you disagree with them.
second, i think it makes sense to play the young guys like davis and Howells. this season is toast r4l the tournament so get them minutes and see if they can help us.

KoX, there are at least a few. To think otherwise is naive. Not saying you or others are one of them, or that they don't have legit points (I agree with some of them) but they are out there.

I don't fault Donlon for not playing Collie. Collie shouldn't be in our future plans at PG. Nice kid. Great effort when he is on the court, but he has no potential to improve and develop into the PG we need in the future. My problem with Donlon right now is wasting time playing Reggie or Chrishawn major minutes. This season is a bust and every minute of every game should be used to prepare the returning players for the future and right now it looks like our missing link next year is the PG position. Howell isn't the answer. Donlon should be figuring out if Mitchell or Thomasson can be the answer for us next year at PG.
