Since it is the offseason lets have some fun. If you could build a team, of former Raiders from any era who would you take. 12 players. I will give you mine, now I did not grow up in the area or watching the Raiders so I never saw Vitaly or Bill Edwards. My time is primarily in the Biancardi Era, the Brownell Era and the Donlon Era. Let know your thoughts!
STARTING 5 C Vitaly Potapenko F Bill Edwards G Verard Hollins G Vaughn Duggins G DaShaun Wood
BENCH G Todd Brown G Keion Brooks G Mark Woods F AJ Pacher F Cory Cooperwood F Drew Burleson F Bob Grote
Coaching Staff HC Ralph Underhill AC Brad Brownell AC Billy Donlon AC Jim Brown

No to Pacher and Cooperwood.
Sean Hammond's and Thad Burton would need to be on here for rebounds replacing those two. I would also put Delme Herriman ahead of Grote. I like your list of guards hard to argue our best guards. Another 3 man that I put as first off is Jerran Young, he had a good two years.

I think Jerran Young had a better run as a Raider than Cooperwood, and I don't think that's even debatable.

I don't see any of the D2 players on the list. Gary Monroe should definitely be considered. Another more recent post player would be Israel Sheinfeld.

It's always fun to play such imaginary games. I don't see anything wrong with your picks or the ones others selected. In any case, WSU has had some wonderful talent to root for over our years, and not just in men's basketball.

Like Hittman, I only came into the mix during the Biancardi era. I can't speak to the talent levels of Vitaly or Bill Edwards. Having said that, here are my picks for the last decade:
G- Wood G- Duggins F- Yoho F- Young F-Pleiman Bench: Thomasson, Darling, Wilson, Brown, Vest
BONUS:If Donlon picked the starting five players for a game: PG- Wood PG- Arceneaux PG- Mays PG- Gardner PG- Hopkins

Jeff, you kill me.....Throw Kendall Griffin in there, and you have probably the highest injury prone team to ever see the hardwood.

hitman, as i read your list i thought that was a pretty solid group. as i read some other choices i thought those were pretty good too. just so many good players to choose from. my list is from our time as div i program. i will let the old guys name some from our div ii days.
c- vitaly and Israel
pg- dashaun and mark woods
f- bill e. and sean Hammond and kevin melson and j.t. yoho
sg- vaughn duggins and keion brooks
a player like thad burton had a great single season but i thought vitally and Israel should be our centers. same point with caine doliboa a great single season. Jesse deister was hard to leave off too as was vernard h. just a lot of good players. fun thinking about them.

Starting 5 D. Wood Gary Monroe V. Duggins Bill Edwards V. Potapenko
Bench Mike Nahar Fred Moore Keion Brooks Sean Hammond Mark Vest Mark Woods Delme Herriman
First Five Out Todd brown Bob Grote Israel Sheinfeld Marcus Mumphrey Thad Burton
Nahar was a better all around offensive player than Sheinfeld. Plus he's got a couple more inches. Tough deciding between Hammond and Burton. Same for Brooks vs. Duggins.

He might not start, but you have to have Dave Dinn on the bench. In the immortal words of Greg Gahris: "The Warrior!"

Dave and Scott Benson were battleras. They didn't back down and went after any loose ball close to them.

I might contact Jim Brown to get some expert input on this subject.

Don't think I saw Seth Doliboa's name anywhere, he was really fun to watch, he could be the first man off the bench, if he is not starting. Andy Holderman? I think he has the highest three point percentage for WSU, remember him as a clutch player. Rodney Benson was great from the D2 days.

I respect the fans who love the old time greats like Dave Dinn, as a little boy my first memory of a good basketball player was Lenny Lyons, then Dinn, Robinson and wampler back in the PE building days. But Gary Monroe is definitely not a top 5 all time Raider is he?
That said and with respect to our history those guys couldn't hang with the skill set of the Raiders a decade or two later.
To be fair to both you could really break this down to pre Nutter Center (Div 2) and div 1 post 1991 or so.

Im too young to remember Monroe, but he was drafted by the Trailblazers (5th round, back when they had more rounds). Also was an all american. I think he probably could hang with any od the guys in the DI days....
