What are everyone's predictions for this year's starting lineup?

PG: Thomasson SG: Benzinger: SF: Mitchell PF: Yoho C: Karena
I almost put Minnis at the PG and Thomasson at SG, but I think Donlon will want Benzinger and Yoho together as much as possible to spread the floor.

I think our starting lineup at the beginning of the year and our lineup when we start HL play could be very different. By the time HL play starts I think we will be playing:
PG: Minnis SG: Thomasson SF: Steven Davis PF: Yoho C: Karena
I don't think Minnis left Rhode Island to be a back up here.

Indy Raider, although I'd consider going to a practice to check things out ( if I knew when practices took place )...my question would be what do you expect out of a SF and PF? Does a small forward hang out in 3 point areas? Does a power forward have their share of physical contact? ( Hinting about changing your choices ).

Tommy I consider our PF the guy that defends the other team's PF and our SF the guy that defends the other team's SF. JT has exclusively played PF for WSU the last 3 years. He is too slow to defend other team's SF. Davis has played SF and PF at WSU. Last year when they were both healthy and on the court at the same tome JT was our PF and Davis was our SF. I don't think it has anything to do with where they want to hang out on the court.

Indy, I thought you might have been thinking of defensive positioning...thanks for the reasoning. Was hoping we'd have heard about an exhibition contest by now ( although I don't have a problem with one closed scrimmage ).

Minnis Benzinger Thomasson (3-guard lineup) Yoho Karena
Top subs: Mitchell R.Davis Mortensen S. Davis (when healthy) Alstork (when healthy) Neel Hughes
I think Vest will redshirt and Ernsthausen will only play in emergency situations. Good to have Collie back as an extra PG too.

Minnis Benzinger Thomasson (3-guard lineup) Yoho Karena Top subs: Mitchell R.Davis Mortensen S. Davis (when healthy) Alstork (when healthy) Neel Hughes Donlon has never gone 12 deep. The most he has ever played is 10 and he usually only goes 8 deep.

I mostly agree with that, if you want to look at pre-HL and post HL. The other interesting player to me is Mortensen. You don't go from playing in the top league in a European country to 7 or 8th off the bench. The only thing I see here in your list I don't agree with is that Donlon would want Benzinger or Mitchell in there. I hope Mitchell makes the type of leap from Frosh to Sophomore season that Kendall made. It's so funny...when we do these posts, we always have two veins...who'll Donlon start, and who should start....

I won't hazard a guess on who will start until I see all these new faces in action. I am most anxious to see the young man from Denmark. As a 20 year old, experienced freshman I see him as a layer that may have a huge impact. Time will tell. Because we have more balance this year we could be the surprise team in the HL.

True, but when have we ever been this deep during the Donlon era? If you frequently attend or listen to Donlon's radio show you would know that Donlon doesn't believe in a deep rotation of players. He thinks that the more players spend time on the court together the better they play team defense. He believes in a steady rotation of 8-9 players.

We are currently 2 men down to injuries. With our history with injuries in Donlon's tenure I don't think we will ever have to wonder what Donlon would do with 13 scholarship players. I doubt we have more than 10-11 guys healthy at any given time this season.

I doubt we have a steady starting line up all year. We almost always have guys injured and Donlon seems to like to change his starters from time to time anyways based on who had the hot hand in the last game. I personally think that is a good thing. It drives competition for PT and keeps guys from getting complacent.
