Sorry to say but the men's season has been very disappointing to date for a variety of reasons to date. In brief the reasons have been:
The lack of a pre-season game at home against a decent opponent;
The overall lack of any home games in Nov. Certainly that is not the way most fans want to start a new season. I think most fans are always anxious to see the team take the court as early as possible.
When we do open the season tomorrow it will be against Mt. St. Joseph, a non DI team.
We were 1 and 2 in the recent tournament. I really thought and hoped that we would be 2 and 1 if not 3 and 0.
I suspect our best home non-con game will be BG. That will be a good game, but still disappointing if that is the best team we face at home in the non-con portion of the schedule.
We have also been racking up fouls like crazy while also loosing the battle of the boards.
I am still hopeful that this can be a good year for us in the HL portion of the schedule. Perhaps when the guys who are not able to play to date will make a difference for us

Wolf, we were 25.5-point underdogs at No. 2 Kentucky and gave them a decent game. 78-63. I was encouraged. It's a long season and this is the best roster we've had in years IMO. I'm expecting us to win around 20 games overall and finish second in the HL behind Valpo. We'll see.

UK came in after having a big win vs. Duke and slept walked their way through their game with us and still managed to dominate us with a half-assed effort. We have not looked good all year. We haven't looked like a team that can win 20 games even against the shitty schedule Donlon put together. We sure in the heck haven't looked like a team that can finish second in the HL to Valpo. If Donlon doesn't figure out how to adapt his defense to the way they are calling games now we are going to finish in the bottom half of the HL and Donlon will be looking for a new job.

We continue to say we have the best roster in years every year. I do believe the talent level is getting better, but our coaching style is not. Billy is not learning to coach the type of player he is recruiting and whether it is his fault or not, we keep having too many practice related injuries.

Twizman, As I said I am hopeful for the season, but disappointed in the start of the season. It sounds like tonight's foe is no guaranteed W, so let's how it goes.

I believe Billy pushes too in hard practice, or practices too often. Maybe both. The practice injuries and the fact we always seem to be beaten down by the time January rolls around has been the status quo since Billy took over. I heard we are having two practices on Thanksgiving day? I know we play away on Saturday and assume Friday may be a travel day, but it seems like he doesn't learn from past mistakes, like riceownz2 said above.

18-5 Raiders, under 8 timeout of the first half if anyone is curious.

Benzinger "did not fill some responsibilities" per Chris Collins. Is dressed. I'm just glad he's not hurt.

Seeing some of these comments about BD. He is the reason I decided to no renew my season tickets. I was tired of watching boring Billy ball and seeing players with potential being developed into mediocre players. I've said for sometime he is not the coach to further develop this program. He has taken it backward. If he is gone next year will get season tickets again if still in the area.

ok, someone who was at this game help me understand something. what is going on with Michael k. that would cause him to draw four fouls in 12 mins. against div. iii competition. is he that slow footed or is there something else about his defense.

Our coaches keep asking a 6-10, 270 pound man to edge out on guards at the top of the key. He gets at least 2 fouls a game doing this because he cannot move his feet as fast as a 6-0 pg can. Butler used to do that with their post players and we started to copy it 7-8 years ago. It has never worked for us but Donlon keeps making our post players do it.
