I'm not saying our Raiders are going to lose, but they can't get killed on the glass and expect to win. If they get hot from behind the 3 point line and knock down 10-12 three pointers then they have a chance. Plus play some good pressure D and force Valpo into turnovers and poor shooting. If they can do that they can win this game. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. It should be a good game.

Billy Donlon basketball has never been a game of offensive rebounding but these last 9 games or so I have seen what seems to be a little change in his game of running the opposite direction after a shot is taken. Sometimes it would help if the shooter would follow their shot.

Valpo can really guard this year too which is different from some of their teams from previous years. I have been running this game through my head since the UDM game. We need some things to go right for us tonight. Valpo is a very good shooting team, but so are we. Valpo has a good big man but so do we. I think the team who can keep their big man in the game (avoiding foul trouble) and the team that doesnt go cold from the field (like we did in the UDM game) will win. I feel good about this team and how they are playing.

On paper Valpo has a huge rebounding advantage. We have to make shots, get steals and make free throws to nullify that part of their game. If we get several more steals than they do we can limit their shots at the basket big time and that knocks the rebounding out. Vashil Fernandez is the interior defense and gets some garbage points off rebounds, he is not a scoring machine. Alec Peterson on the other hand is a scorer. We need to stay with him and deny the ball to him. Our guards are more than capable of shutting down their guards.
This also might be one of those where actually want to run and gun some if we can finish baskets. If we can dictate that type of game that really hurts the size advantage. The other night when we had 5 guards playing against Detroit Donlon played uptempo some and it worked out good for us. I don't like playing 4 guards little long 5 but if we can push the ball when they are out there and play stingy defense it might pay dividends. Just a little optimistic tonight.
Let's hope we get help from the refs instead of catering to the first place team in the league. You know the league wants Valpo to keep winning all the way through til at least the last game and blow it so 2 teams might make it in.

Valpo is favored by 8.5 points. My prediction is Valpo wins, but WSU covers. I think Valpo will win something like 65-61.

Expecting a nice crowd - hopefully we start fast to get the crowd into and then keep it close enough down the stretch for it to matter.

How's the weather down there? I would expect the best student turnout, and UD isn't playing, so that will help attendance. However, tickets look to be plentiful right now, so I think some walk up attendance will be needed. I would expect around 5500, maybe 6k. (See previous post about how we suck with attendance over 5500)

Going to be a big crowd. Section 205 and 206 there are no more seats left.

I thought it hit the backboard.
Three points left at the stripe, six on missed layups.
Not going to cut it against Valpo.
