Thanks Phelps! and I agree with you optimistjp. If we want to compete right away as Coach Nagy said, then we need to make some tough changes. But is easier said then done. But all I can say is I am looking forward to watch the team play next season.

i have to admit coach was not at the top of my list but after seeing what he has to say i am more and more impressed with him. i love that he talks about competing for an at large bid to the dance. i do not think i have heard a raider coach talk like that ever! welcome words. there are a couple of thing i would like to see in the future with coach Nagy. one, no future recruits with zero or virtually zero interest from other div i programs. you cannot build a quality program like that. Hopefully we will see an incremental improvement in our recruits. second, i would like our schedule to reflect our desire to compete for an at large bid. quality opponents with no non div one teams, One other thought and this is radical and may anger some people. i would give coach Nagy 2-3 years to build this team into a quality mid major and then take a "buy game" across town. i am confident than when this program is built up to what it can be we will be very competitive.

Thanks for the link! I was trying to stream it from work last week and couldn't figure it out if it was available or not. Listening now.

Coach Nagy is a breath of fresh air. Billy acted like a robot half the time.

Billy's style of play is not the kind of play that the NCAA wants to have any more. The NCAA wants scoring, slam dunks and action up and down the court. Changing the shot clock to 30 seconds and getting rid of the 5 second call hurt Billy's way of coaching and the shot clock will be lowered to 25 in a couple more years. The NCAA wants to mirror the NBA more and more.

I hope you're wrong about a 25-second shot clock. That would be awful. 30 seconds is plenty short enough.

Simply because I think 25 seconds is way too short for college basketball. We've gone from no shot clock to 45 seconds, to 40, to 35 and now to 30. I think we're good. There is something to be said for working the ball around offensively, making the other team play D and finding a good shot. It's tough enough to do that with just a 30-second clock.
College basketball is not the NBA. 25 seconds would be almost identical to the NBA. I bet it never happens. I hope it never happens.
