If we play like that Wednesday, we are going to get hammered.

Keeping Karena out of foul trouble is going to be key this season. I hope we have JT back for the BG game Wednesday.

It might take half a season for this team to gel and develop some chemistry. While I was impressed with ODU's patience, shot selection and hustle tonight, this is still a DII team that has already lost two games in the Cedarville tournament.
Karena will need to learn how to play defense without fouling so much.

Hopefully Kendall will too if he is cleared medically.

This was nothing more than a glorified exhibition game. Spreading minutes around and seeing how the players performed in a game was more important than winning or losing. ODU is a DII team and the result of this game doesn't count in our RPI. And of course the competition is going to get better but I don't think any team other than Ohio State will be better than Belmont in our non-conference schedule and Billy and the boys beat them Friday night. I think this team will do well this year.

Final note, 3668 butts in seats today, down from 5437 for the opener. Right about what I said....Hopefully this road stretch goes decently well and fans return in droves against Urbana (lol)

I think this team will do well this year. When all is said and done, I don't think Belmont is going to end up as a great win for us this year. They had a whole bunch of new faces in their line up and looked like a team rebuilding. Don't get me wrong. I don't think Belmont is going to have a horrible year, but I don't think they end up anywhere near in the top 50 like they were last year. As for WSU, I really like this team. We are young and still trying to learn how to play good team defense, but we have some legit talent. It's a shame Sledge couldn't keep his nose clean. Having some quality depth in the post looks like our one glaring weakness. I love our guard play.

I think that as of now we have to expect Hopkins, Reggie, and Thomasson to be our leading scorers this year. I think Karena has the potential to contribute offensively, but whether he'll be someone that gets double digits every night is a question mark. But I love having a true center on the court looking to score inside. Griffin can be a scorer, but his forte is defense, and if these other threats are contributing I think he may be content to score on occassion. Yoho can definitely score, especially if he is hot from the arc. He looks trim and fit, but until we see him on the court I won't comment further. Of the top 3 I mentioned at the outset I think Reggie and Joe may be in and out. If the other guys are hitting their shots I can see them playing whatever way is needed on a given night. But I'd expect Hopkins to be the top scorer virtually every time out. He has such great moves that he can take it to the rim at any time, plus hit from outside.
This will be a very interesting season. Our success will depend on our scoring ability and our being able to keep our 4 big men healthy for the next 3+ months AND out of foul trouble. If that comes to past we'll be in the running for a top 3 or 4 finish in the HL. But for now I'm looking forward to see how we perform in the OOC portion of our schedule.

Depending on how good George Mason is I would say besides Ohio State, Belmont is the best quality team we will play out of conference this regular season. I think once Karena gets used to the system at game speed he will likely score double figures most nights. Thomasson is a great add this year, he has hops as well and can block shots even at only 6'4".
