In regards to Nagy and SIU, I wish him nothing but the best. He was successful here during a really rough patch of time for the university and athletic department financially and always represented the university with class.
In regards to Sargent, I’m excited about his future here. I understand some of our fans concerns about his lack of experience and the fact that his whole coaching career has been under Nagy. I think that can be overcome. Early indications are that he is keeping the coaching staff together, the returning roster is staying intact, and he might even be able to keep all 3 incoming recruits. That is an excellent start to his tenure. I like the fact that we are looking at all options to fill our 4 vacant roster spots. In the past, we might have added 1 transfer but more than likely we would have added another high school kid or 2 and banked a scholarship for the future. I like that our coaches are hitting the portal much harder than in the past, looking at JUCOs, looking at prep school kids, besides just high school seniors. This team could make some noise in the HL next year with the right additions and a coach that can figure out a way to make the most out of their skill sets. If the entire staff ends up staying together, then we have 1 spot to fill. I hope Clint adds someone with prior head coaching experience that he can use as a sounding board.

Well, we finally got a conference win. Think we can shock the world and get 2 in a row?

I hope we see the deeper bench again tonight. Going into the HL tournament, we are hopefully going to be playing several games in a short amount of time. Any quality minutes we can get from our bench is going to keep our starters fresher. Completely agree

Honestly I am starting to look forward to the end of Nagy's tenure here. He's stubborn and he recruited this mismatched set of players. Some talent here but the sum is less than the parts. Honestly, I think you should start following another team if that is how you feel. Nagy isn't going anywhere unless he decides to leave on his own. He has been the most successful coach in WSU history and he has a big contract that we couldn't buy out even if Bob Grant was dumb enough to want to buy out. There isn't a chance in hell he is getting fired for having a down year. I'm with Big D. I don't think there is any way we don't finish in the top 3 in the HL this year. Like everyone else, I am not happy with the results on the court so far this year. I'm not happy that we didn't utilize our last scholarship on a scoring guard last spring but I also know that we lost 2 assistant coaches last spring which really hurt our ability to find and sign that guard. I think they did a really good job signing 2 good recruits in the early signing period and look forward to seeing what we add in the late signing period.

Freewind, I've read your posts about this on multiple message boards and on twitter. You seem really excited about this. For the love of god I cannot figure out why. The most likely scenario out of all of this is that Murray State follows Belmont to the MVC. That would pretty much be the last nail in the coffin for Wright State being able to get into the MVC. The MVC gets stronger and the HL is in the same crappy position we are currently in. Even worse, our moron of a commissioner will probably add Morehead State which will just further dilute the HL. Nothing about this news is good to me.

This was a really good interview with Coach Nagy. The take away to me was in the last 5-6 minutes of the interview when he talked about the importance of improving local recruiting. You have to think that weighed a lot in the decision to add Coach Trice to the staff. I know adding him to the staff is a popular decision on the board and across twitterverse, but it really is a big gamble. He does have a lot of local connections but he has never coached at the collegiate level before which means he has never had to recruit before. His name is going to get his foot in the door at a lot of places we haven't been able to crack before. I hope he develops the recruiting chops to land some local talent.

Seniors:Lou Love (if he decides to come back) Juniors:James Manns Sophomores:Tim Finke Trey Calvin Tanner Holden Grant Basile Freshmen:Alex Huibregtse Andrew Welage Brandon Noel AJ Braun Keaton Norris A few things really pop in my mind when I look at that roster. 1. There is just a ton of talent on this roster (even if Lou decides to graduate) 2. We have really good size in the post and wings. 3. We really need to add a couple of playmakers with our remaining scholarships. Finke, Holden, and Calvin are the only returning guys that can create their own shot out of our returning guys, but I wouldn't say any of them are elite level at doing that. Norris looks like a guy that can do that based on his film but he has to make that transition to the college game. To get to that next level where we can win a game or 2 in the tournament, we need 1-2 guys that can penetrate and finish at the rim and/or create a shot for a teammate. We really need to add a DaShaun Wood/Cole Gentry type experienced PG in the late signing period.
