WSU MBB: Patching together non conference schedule: WSU has Evansville, USU Upstate, Miami U, BG, George Mason, and Belmont twice.
"USU Upstate" I assume is U. South Carolina Upstate

This looks like a very decent schedule so far. Road trips to BG, Evansville, and OSU are all very reasonable. Even going to Belmont is reasonable if it is a weekend game.

First, Happy 4th to everyone and a big thank you to all those who have served this country and their families. Your sacrifices for our freedom are truly appreciated and always will be.
Based on an interview with BD in the DDN, it seems like we have one more big opponent to announce. He said something like we'll have George Mason, a BCS school, and a school that "wins 30 games a year". So it seems OSU is one of those last two....any idea from anybody on who the BCS School/30+wins a year team will be? Dare we guess perhaps a game against UK?
Overall, I think this is generally type of schedule we should have every year....one exempt tourney in which we are a favorite...a few MAC/MVC teams, one A-10 team, and 1-2 BCS schools....if we become a more successful (RPI of 80+ every year) team, then I would like more challenging tourney for us in the season. Of the 12 games so far, we have a realistic chance of at least 8-4, assuming everyone comes back and we're relatively healthy.
Speaking of...in the interview, Donlon did not seem to indicate that Kendall wouldn't be back...hope he's getting beter.

The schedule, especially the home schedule won't sound so good once you factor in that most of those good games you are listing are going to be on the road. The home portion of the schedule might end up being George Mason, Miami, Belmont, and 2 non D1 teams. That isn't going to make most season ticket holders happy.

You are right about that. Bringing in two Sisters of the Poor does absolutely nothing for WSU but to serve up cupcakes for W's. And if you lose one of those cupcake games the stench lingers for the season. Of course the stench from a W doesn't go away either. Like I said previously, the big name team can afford a couple of lower divisions team because the rest of their schedule is so strong, especially their conference schedule. Playing an otherwise average schedule makes it difficult to swallow two lower division teams or even D-I teams ranked above 250. It seems like we are mimicing the big schools with such opponents, but seem to forget that our overall schedule isn't comparable to theirs.

Didn't leave them out on-purpose, forgot about that. You are right...if there are more non-DI games this season that would not be good. Even with those, this schedule is more line with what our schedule should generally be than it has been the last couple years. I'm excited about the OSU game because I think if guys like Reggie and JT get hot, especially against a talented but young OSU team early in the season, it could be a real great game. Either way, we'll be definitely better represented than the last time we played them. I'm just anxious to see who is the "30 wins every year" team is. Louisville, Kansas, Arizona, UK, Duke, come to mind. Would be nice if maybe we scored some kind of deal with Gonzaga for a 2 for 1 or Wichita State, although they've won 30 games just the past two years, which would conflict with what BD said. This is the schedule speculation thread, so just speculating...

Where is the "30 wins a year" quote coming from? Did he specifically say a D-1 30-win program? I reeeeaaaally hope I don't pick up the schedule and see Emory staring back at me.
Having said that, Michigan State has two players from the Dayton area on the roster and we all know Izzo's scheduling policy. I'd put my chips there.

Having said that, Michigan State has two players from the Dayton area on the roster and we all know Izzo's scheduling policy. I'd put my chips there. The 30 win a year quote came from an interview Donlon did in the DDN. It was posted in the basketball news thread. Here is a link to the article. www.mydaytondailynews.com/news/sports/college/qa-with-wright-state-basketball-coach-billy-donlon/ngTst/?icmp=daytondaily_internallink_textlink_apr2013_daytondailystubtomydaytondaily_launch#1f8aa4e8.3458922.735422Based on the WSU press release, my guess is that the schedule is done but they don't want to announce the last game or 2 is against non-D1 teams. The purpose of the release is to drum up season ticket sales. We announced the games against Belmont, George Mason and Miami in the release. If we had any other games lined up worth a crap on the home schedule we would have announced them in the release to drum up better sales. I doubt we are playing Mich St Gerb. If we had a new series signed with them it would have made the release. The 30 win team is most likely a buy game on the road like the OSU game. I hate that Wright State tries to deceive it's fan base every year and waits to announce the shitty games on the schedule AFTER season ticket renewals are due. It's one of the main reason so many loyal fans have stopped renewing their tickets over the years. www.wsuraiders.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27000&ATCLID=209541964
