Two years in a row we are screwed by this kid. We played 1/2 of last season without a backup center and now we are either going to play this whole year without a backup center or we are going to force one of the freshmen we were planning to redshirt to play. Neither is a good option. If Donlon would have just kicked him off the team last year he could have brought in a second JUCO center to go along with Karena. I really fear that Donlon is going to use this as an excuse to go with a 4 guard line up.

Hmm. Wonder what that team rule violation was--Not being the designated driver for Yoho? (part sarcasm)
1 Guard lineup. 2 Guard lineup. 3 Guard lineup. 4 Guard lineup. 5 Guard lineup.
It's all lining up to be an excuse for Donlon.

First, I think what the violation was should not be disclosed by the school. They gave him one more chance than I thought they should. We have some height without much bulk. This year we do have more shooters than in the past. Not sure what will happen with JT, doubt it will get him dismissed. I do think he needs to be told as of now you are not a starter and have to work hard to regain starting and playing time.

They don't have to disclose it. They don't need to, they all look terrible in this situation. Telling everyone what he did, especially if it's violent or some kind of tantrum, only makes things worse.

My guess is that when they reinstated him last year, they gave him a zero tolerance policy, which means ANY mistake and you're out, and he probably did something to break that. Knowing Donlon, it could be something as simple as skipping classes, or he could have done something bigger. I doubt we find out.

Here is a quote from Jimmy's original article: The Raiders athletic department has gone to some pretty ridiculous lengths to cover up what’s going on in plain sight and stop people from answering questions on the matter.
It is impossible to find Sledge on any of the rosters on Wright State’s website, although his stats are still on the PDF and his face is still in team photos. I guess they don’t have anyone with photoshop skills to wipe him clean from history. Here is my resonse to him on UWM's board: You are a complete hack and also spineless since you decided to post this article around the other HL message boards but didn't have the balls to post it on Raider Nation. Go back and look at past WSU rosters on our athletic site. You might notice a common theme when it comes to athletes that either transfer or are kicked off the team. They are ALL immediately removed from the current team's website. When they leave on their own or are kicked out, they no longer represent WSU so they are removed from the website's current page. They are not removed from the website for past seasons when they were part of the team. Sledge is still listed on the roster, has his own biography page, is in the stats, and is in the photo album for the last 3 seasons when he was a member of the team. He is not going to be on the 2014/15 team so he was taken off the roster. If you did the smallest amount of research you would know that. Your hack job of an article is unresearched BS like most of what you write. A real journalist would retract that article and write an apology, but we all know you aren't a real journalist Jimmy. uwmfreak.proboards.com/thread/4903/wright-state-raiders?page=12&scrollTo=121107

Of course we know Jimmy Lemke isn't a real journalist. He writes inflammatory pieces like this and posts it on as many message boards as he can to try to get people to visit his website. I honestly don't know why he still tries. He has been doing this for like 4-5 years now and still doesn't have a following. You think he would have given up by now and got a real job.

I didn't like us taking Sledge back either last year but our athletic department did nothing wrong this fall when they kicked Sledge off the team. He was taken back on the team last year with a zero tolerance policy. He broke some rule and was dismissed from the team. I don't see where PantherU is coming up with this conspiracy theory. We made it very clear last year that he was being given one last chance and he blew it. It could have been anything. Knowing Sledge's history, he most likely got caught skipping class again.

Maybe he should just worry about UW-Milwaukee's failing APR and revolving door of ADs. We can worry about our own program.

I don't think it's a conspiracy theory so much as the university trying to sweep everything under the rug, especially with its "no further comment" line. I don't think it was anything criminal, but if it were something as simple as skipping class, wouldn't the old adage "sunshine is the best disinfectant" apply here? Fact is, Wright State comes out of this looking poorly; it's Sledge's third run-in with authorities, one for each of the last three years, so the argument can easily be made that if Bob Grant was so into second chances, he burned his second chance by committing the crimes that got him 19 days in jail.
As for this kerfuffle with Big D today: I also don't claim to be a journalist, even though I've broken 90% of hoops news out of UWM in the past 8 years, as well as things like Oakland joining the conference etc. It literally says all over PantherU that it's a blog; I mean, for Pete's sake, I just posted something ranking the logos in the Horizon League. As for a following, Class 'O '79, I think 2,000 unique visitors per day during the season and 156 paid subscribers to PantherU constitutes a 'following,' but maybe that's just me.
Honestly though, Big D's anger is way over the top considering that he took a paragraph out of the blog post to get pissed about, something that is so impossibly miniscule in comparison to the fact that your university put a guy in uniform a month after he got out of jail. Obviously Big D was irked about that, as he argued that Sledge should be gone when it happened.
I get it. You're frustrated, you're pissed, and I'm an easy outlet. That's fine. You can call me classless and a hack all you want, but we both know that deep down that's what you want to say to Bob Grant. I won't get any more worked up over it, I still think Big D should be Commissioner of the Horizon League. Have a nice day.

Maybe he should just worry about UW-Milwaukee's failing APR and revolving door of ADs. We can worry about our own program. Looks like we've finally got the right AD. Our program deserved the one-year postseason ban it got and the coaching staff deserved the egg on its collective face. We took solace in the fact that we can sleep easy knowing our team doesn't cook the books or sweep our dirt under the rug.

Our program deserved the one-year postseason ban it got and the coaching staff deserved the egg on its collective face. We took solace in the fact that we can sleep easy knowing our team doesn't cook the books or sweep our dirt under the rug. We dismissed a player from the team for breaking a team rule that had to do with academics. WSU would not comment on that publically beyond their release to prevent a lawsuit from Sledge. A school cannot comment on a student's academic matter publically nowadays and you know it. Now on the other hand, I do remember when your school that "doesn't cook the books or sweep our dirt under the rug" did in fact hide the fact that your most successful coach in school history got busted for breaking NCAA recruiting rules. He got booted out of coaching at Tennessee for breaking the exact same rule years later. Funny how selective your memory is there chief.
