That was a gutsy, grind it out win. They figured out anway to win even though they didn't play all that well. Missed free throws, unforced turnovers, some break downs on defense, but they fought through adversity and pulled out a win. Great job Raiders!

Great win and glad I could make it there.

The only two things that worried me was that Bass #35 and #1 were making those 3's wide open plus we were struggling at the free throw line.
The refs were horrible in this game against both teams. The no call when Thomasson fell and bounced off the floor was one of the worst no calls I had ever seen.
I liked when the basket had a lid on it we just kept driving the lane. They kept fouling us as well. I don't think we will have a problem beating them in Detroit. There is no way the lid will be on the basket like it was tonight.
Our go to guy has to be Grant if we need a 3 point basket.

The team beat UDM on a night where it did three things it normally does not during the recent surge:
1) SHoot poor from the line 2) Shoot poor from 3 3) And turn it over
My main complaints about tonight were that Donlon didn't go to the zone sooner (he waited until five minutes left in the game)--but he did go to it for a stretch. Regardless, the guys found a way to finally shut down Bass with about 10 minutes left.
Other highlights--- 1) Karena continues shooting better from the line, going 7-11 and staying at 68%. He also grabbed 8 boards and he played a season-high in minutes, all great signs. 2) Mitchell gave 15 good minutes tonight on defense 3) Hughes continued giving solid minutes 4) Joe Thomasson kept his composure. Nothing that could have led to a "T". 5) JT struggled from the field, but I attribute that to this being 3 games in six days and his knee. But he rebounded well, played good post defense, and also had six assists.
Last year the team played Valpo tough twice. Here's hoping the guys get a chance to rest up and that everybody, regardless of whether you like the coach or not, shows up and gets behind this team because these guys deserve the support. They are selfless, supportive, and really doing a great job representing the school by not folding earlier on when many, including myself, were writing them off.

Hughes was really aggressive taking it to the rim last night - he's developed quite a bit already I think he's going to be a nice PG for us they next few years. I can't believe Bass took that 3 during Detroit's final possession when they were only down 1. Thank you Ray.
Crowd was into last night - I'm expecting our biggest crowd of the season Friday night.

The crowd was really into it because the men in stripes did a horrible job for both teams. Charging calls are always subjective but these 3 zebras took the cake. The sixth man in the stands did help bring the win but almost the credit goes to the guys on the floor that held their composure and did what they had to do to win.
The Raiders need to eat Alpo for lunch Friday.

Bad teams do not win games that they shouldn't win, but good teams find a way. Detroit was more rested than us, not an excuse just a fact. We did not shoot it well from the 3 or the line, and still scored 77 points. This team was able to fight like hell and find a way to beat a pretty good team. Friday will be a tremendous challenge but Coach Donlon will have the troops ready!!

They played at Oakland and lost a hard game two nights before and then bused to WSU. I agree with everything else you said.

Detroit played oakland at home on Saturday. We had also played Thursday. That is where the rest came in to play. Prior to the Oakland game Detroit had a week off where we were playing our 3rd game in 5 days.
