This has no chance of passing. There are enough Red State senators to prevent the supporters from getting anywhere near 60 votes needed to move forward.

I think we are going to be just fine when you compare us to the schools we recruit against. We should have better support than most other HL schools and we should have better support than most MAC schools because basketball players at those schools are competing against football players at those schools for endorsement dollars.

Is there a ceiling on what these players can make? For example, could a local, wealthy business owner hire Loudon as a spokesman for his or her business and pay him, say $100k to come back for a 6th year? Far fetched, I realize. But what is stopping this type of arrangement from happening, especially at the Blue Blood schools like Kentucky, Duke, NC, etc. The devil is in the details, but there is bound to be all kinds of montary wheeling and dealing when it comes to recruiting & player retention. This reminds me of a joke about football players from the SEC being depressed after getting drafted in the NFL. They didn't want to take a pay cut. Now this could actually be a reality with this NIL legislation passing. Pandora's box has been opened.

Here is a company that commits to give every player on the University of Miami Football team a contract. American Top Team, which he describes as “one of the nation’s top training academies for MMA fighters which has 44 licensed gyms throughout South Florida and the world,” is finalizing plans to offer every scholarship player on Miami’s roster NIL contracts. According to Gary Ferman with CaneSport.com, American Top Team, which he describes as “one of the nation’s top training academies for MMA fighters which has 44 licensed gyms throughout South Florida and the world,” is finalizing plans to offer every scholarship player on Miami’s roster NIL contracts. “Each of the 90 existing Miami scholarship players will be offered a $500 a month contract (up to $6000 for a year) to endorse American Top Team through their social media accounts, personal appearances and other marketing vehicles,” Ferman says in the article. “If all 90 players opt to accept a deal, the total American Top Team investment in year one could reach $540,000.” It is just a matter of time before top basketball programs will find companies to finance NIL incentives for players. This will further open the gap between the haves and have nots. I think most schools in now Power-5 Conferences will try to set up NIL programs for their athletes. It remains to be seen how Mid-Majors will effectively respond. I am sure schools like WSU will come up with some NIL program. We are certainly in uncharted waters. www.outkick.com/american-top-team-commits-up-to-6000-for-every-miami-player-on-scholarship-in-nil-deal/
