FWIW, the Selection Show had an All-Time record setting rating low. It dropped an amazing 52% from last year. It's the first time the Selection Show had been on cable (TBS). Perhaps the record low is due to all the cord-cutting. Perhaps viewers didn't know it was on cable and couldn't find the channel--that's my guess and read the ESPN ratings below.
Or, perhaps a combo of both new channel (cable) and cord-cutting. As far as ESPN goes, which has suffered terribly due to cord-cutting, they only witnessed a 1% drop in year-over-year ratings in their selection special.

Turner sharing the games on their networks makes sense due to the ridiculous number of games going on during the opening weekend but moving the selection show from cbs was just dumb. I was not a big fan of the new format either.
