Boy the zone really got us in fits yesterday. It took 25 minutes of game time for us to finally figure it out. Between the press we faced down in Cancun and the zone last night, we’ve clearly tipped our hand on how we can be stopped.
A few other takeaways:
1. Dunk the damn ball. So many inexcusable missed layups last night. It was most noticeable from Big Lou but Bill also missed some bunnies. I just wish we’d go up and slam it down with authority instead of letting a layup roll off hard iron.
2 Speaking of dunks, it seemed that our offense finally came alive in the back to back dunks we had between Mark and Big Lou. It was nice to see, but our offense has to figure out how to deal with the zone. I don’t understand why we didn’t use a timeout early to try something else. I was also surprised how little we tried the reserves when we were struggling early. It’s not like Cedarville was playing a great zone, but it sure looked like we had no clue how to play out of it.
