He isn’t playing til next December. In Parker’s defense, he did great against McDonald. But too many turnovers that are completely unacceptable. Missed 3s is one thing. He has been in a bad shooting slump all of the conference season so far.

This loss was huge in my opinion. We could gave gotten to 500 over all and 3-2 in the league, now we are 8-10 and in 8th place in the league when we were picked to finish first. Once again I expected Wright State to take the next step and once again we regressed.

When NKU plays us at home it will be the highest attendance in the Horizon. NKU fans will follow them to to the Nutter. Along with our 3500-4000.

I agree Big D. This was really a pretty good game by our guys on the road. The Tate kid absolutely killed us. We had no one that could defend him. Parker makes good moves to the basket but then doesn't take the shot. If he would just try to finish at least he might get fouled. I still say Parker is 6'11" put him under the basket. Him an Lou should have a good two man game going. Skyler Potter and Vest need to be taking more threes than Parker.

three thoughts. first, 85. we are really 6-10. six wins against our level of competition. If you really want to think of us as 8-10 just go all the way and call us 9-10 and include the win against Notre dame......college that is. all three of those games are the same, meaningless exhibitions.
big d, the reason I find a loss like this one particularly hard to stomach is that in reality the games against them, and to a lesser degree every other game, is an audition. an audition for a potential move to a better conference. sometime soon the mvc is going to grow, probably with Murray and a travel partner. if they see a team that has been div i for 3-4 years dominating us and this league they will see them as on an upward arc and way more desirable than a program that has been div i for close to 30 years and done absolutely nothing and appear to be muddling along just as always. their choice will be a no brainer and we will lose out again.
now I will be the first to say that the mvc has lost some of its luster with the loss of the shockers and blue jays. but it is still a vast improvement over this circling the drain horizon. we keep watching teams leave this league for better things leaving us in a league with the dregs. if it happens again we are probably lifers in the hl.
for years we have talked about building ourselves to be ready for league expansions but I do not think our program ever felt the urgency. but we are close to missing out again and every opportunity against our direct competition is a vital opportunity.
and that big d is why I find a loss like last night hard to stomach.

Keith, One regular season game is not going to have the slightest bearing on weather or not the MVC invites us or NKU. They care about our overall results, conference championships and post season success when it comes to basketball. And if the MVC is planning on expanding in the next couple of years, Wright State has no chance whatsoever. The university’s financial situation is going to keep us out of the discussion. The upcoming teacher strike is really screwing the university. Our revenue is driven by enrollment. This strike is a huge black eye that is going to hurt our enrollment the rest of this year and next year. That is going to make it harder for the university to remain in the black. Any conference looking to expand is not going to consider us until we get our reserves back to where they need to be. The way things look now that is at a minimum a several year process. Worse case it could take decades. The good news is that the MVC didn’t expand last year. They want Murray State. They were scared off by our finances and they weren’t sold on NKU. I don’t see them expanding for a few more years at the minimum. That gives us a chance to improve our basketball resume and try to get our finances in order.

What sport is next on the chopping block if things go south?

big d, I did not mean to suggest that last night was a one game winner take all playoff for a shot at a real league. I agree with everything you said. but overall success, league championships and postseason success are driven by winning games like last night. truth right now is that if we had a $ gazillion in the bank we would probably be passed by. even if the mvc delays 3-4 years to expand if we do not get our crap together we would be out of luck. we are in a position right now where we cannot afford to take a season off.
we all know the two key losses we suffered have left us short handed, relatively unathletic and short on talent. We need to overachieve. you said they may not expand for 3-4 years. well that clock is ticking and we need to turn this season around. honestly six wins in sixteen games is terrible. The second half of our season has to be a turnaround.

What sport is next on the chopping block if things go south? WSU isn’t cutting any other sports. You have to field a certain number of sports to be D1 and WSU is committed to remain D1. In the big picture, athletics is a very insignificant portion of the university’s overall budget. I don’t remember the exact numbers bet we spend. It’s something like 2-13 million on sports out of a 300+ million budget each year. The positive PR athletics brings to WSU is worth 5 times our expenses. Athletics pays for itself and then some.

Video of NKU owning Wright State is trending on the front page of a popular website called Reddit with nearly 20,000 upvotes. The topic/video is titled “Northern Kentucky basketball runs a football play to get a critical late game inbound pass”. You can see the video here:

99 times out of 100 they call a foul on Parker when the ball is first thrown in. The NKU even gives the "raising the head up move" to show he got fouled.
