I hope the guys don't have a big let down game after playing so well against NKU. We need to play with that kind of intensity the rest of the season, not just 1 game.

Our odds at first place in the league tournament took a nice step forward this afternoon thanks to two matchups going our way.
(If I did this correctly) WSU earns the one seed by winning out and Oakland also winning out (Oakland has 3 winnable home games left and no road games). Oakland would have the tiebreaker over UIC with a series sweep and the tiebreaker over Green Bay with a victory over NKU.
While it would certainly be easiesr if we could get a game up on NKU in the next two weekends, my assumptions are assuming both NKU and WSU win out...
And that starts with taking care of a somewhat resurgent Vikings team who all of a sudden have a glimmer (albeit incredibly tiny) of making the tournament by winning out and getting some help.
NKU's path to the #1 line relies on UIC winning out and finishing ahead of Oakland. However, UIC has a bit of a challenging finish (home against WI teams, at MI teams). The UIC at Oakland game may very well decide the top two seeds.
All of that to say, let's focus on this weekend and not overlook CSU. They've got some great athletes and can score points very quickly. Defend home court, and cross our fingers that some of the other games in conference go our way.

Wright State is offering a ticket to the CSU and YSU game for $10. Hope this brings in more fans.

How does the NIT work if we end up tied with NKU but lose the top seed based on tie breakers? If NKU then wins the tourney would we get an automatic bid to the NIT or is it just for the top seed?

Whoever is the 1 seed, would be the automatic NIT bid. If NKU wins the tiebreaker and is the 1 seed but doesnt win the HL Tourney, they would be NIT bound. In regards to winning out, not to be negative but we do not exactly have a history of going to Wisconsin and winning both games. Milwaukee nearly beat us here and will be fighting to make the HL tournament. I think this team goes 3-1, and hopefully so does NKU. If that is the case go Oakland

We were not hitting on all cylinders in the first conference games. I think it is ours to lose. Only one thing worries me. Fatigue. Our players were spent against NKU. We need to either bury CSU early so our bench can get cleared or start playing a nine man rotation with Mann’s in every now and then.

You guys are looking ahead to Wisconsin and we've got the hottest team in the league coming into our place with all the confidence in the world. I don't know that I've ever been more worried of a home game against YSU in my history of being a fan of this team. I think it's good that we get Cleveland State first, as I too hope we can limit our key players' minutes, but it sure would be something if YSU could go down to Highland Heights and knock off the Norse where they haven't lost all season. YSU has won quite a few close games the last three weeks; maybe they can do it again.
We have historically struggled on the Wisconsin road trip, only sweeping the trip one time since Brad Brownell left for Clemson and that was in the 2012-2013 season going 6-10 under Donlon and Nagy (3 wins against each team).
Milwaukee is in the tank and is on the outside looking in. They've done this to us before; knocked us off of our perch. I'm always reminded of the embarrassment of 2014 when our students got booted out of their section and in my opinion, it cost us the game. They will certainly be looking to spoil next weekend, and Green Bay is in the mix for a 3 seed and certainly won't be a pushover on their own court.
Let's stop looking ahead and take it one game at a time. Neither WSU or NKU control their own destiny, both teams need to win out and look for help at the 3 seed line. If we're looking past Cleveland State, the team could too. We certainly do not want to be in a position where we need NKU to lose down the stretch. Let's take care of business on our home court first.

I won’t soon forget that one either. I plastered hundreds of flyers all over campus the night before that game. You’re right, nothing’s ever guaranteed in this league. Gotta take care of the armpit teams of this state first.

This really had an effect on Cole late in the game. My guess is that it was his legs that created the three missed free throws. Cole played 34 minutes in that game and Malachi played 18. Hughes brought the ball upcourt on a number of possessions. I think the coaches know what we need to do to keep us as fresh as they can with smart substitutions. I'm not counting on it but I'd love to see an early big lead and a nice bit of playing time for the guys on the end of the bench.

Bottom line tonight is Cleveland State hasn't won on the road. They are certainly stepping into the hornets nest this weekend playing in probably the two toughest places to play in the league. Our team should be focused, rested, and mentally prepared. There's no reason to have a lapse. It's the worst team in the league, they haven't won on the road; this is a team we should absolutely bury. Last place teams shouldn't give first place teams fits. Get it done Raiders.

I never feel at ease with this team even when we have a 20 point lead with 10 minutes to go in the game. We tend to have scoring droughts. Hopefully we go to the hoop a lot and screw shooting the 3 ball unless we are feeling it.
