I watched the end of that game. UIC had an inbounds pass with 0.1 seconds left and made the basket with the shot clearly off before the red light. However the refs called no basket and left the court without a review. I guess they followed the NBA "rule" that a catch-and-shoot is impossible with 0.1 seconds left. Opti The officials followed the rule exactly how it's written in the NCAA. Under 0.3 seconds on an inbound pass you can't gain possession and take a shot. Only tip-ins are allowed. The only thing that could have been reviewed was whether he controlled the ball or if he tipped it in. He clearly controlled the ball so no review was needed. At 0.3 seconds getting the ball off before the clock expires becomes irrelevant because of this rule. I think the logic is that the clock operator can't possibly time the start of the clock exactly. I wonder why the UIC coaching staff didn't make sure their players knew they were only allowed to tip the ball in. The ball should have been tossed up closer to the basket and hope for the best by tipping it.
