Hard to justify your statement that NKU is the best team in the HL. Their NET, KenPom and Sagarin rankings are all lower than WSU. They have not received any top 25 votes. They are a game behind WSU in the standings. They lost by 32 at WSU.
They are trending in the right direction and we’re doing the opposite. That’s why they play the games. We’ll see Friday. Maybe I’ll eat crow, hopefully I don’t have to. The Raiders have all of the motivation in the world now to kick NKU’s ass this week, due to their own faults.
Hopefully they can correct course Friday with a large crowd and national audience, and secure the regular season championship in front of a good contingent of Raider fans. I’m not sure what to expect yet based on recent performances.

CSU will be better next year. Liked what their coach had to say about the school he is coaching.

There was talk that this could be the best Wright State team ever. Then they get blown out by 18 against YSU and need overtime to beat Cleveland State.
Yes, YSU is arguably the third-best team in the Horizon League (right with Green Bay) but being the third best team in one of the worst conferences in all of college basketball says very little. And Cleveland State is just atrocious.
Raiders should be dominating most of these teams. A team like Youngstown or Green Bay would finish near last in the MVC. And some fans want Wright State to move to the MVC? We can't even sweep teams like that. We can split with them, but not sweep them. JMO, but if we moved to the MVC, we would have a very difficult time of ever making the NCAA Tournament. Not that we make it very often as is, but hopefully that changes here in a couple weeks.

If you think the outcome of 2 games should have any bearing whatsoever on our fan base’s desire to change conferences you are a fool. You move to a better conference because you have the desire to be a better program. You want to play better competition. You want the chance to recruit better players. You want the chance to go to the post season and advance beyond the first round. By your way of thinking, Butler would still be in the HL. They didn’t dominate every HL team they played. They actually lost games to teams in the conference. That didn’t stop them from going to the A-10 and it didn’t stop them from moving to the Big East. Loyola was a damn doormat when they were in the HL. A perfect storm of events lead to them getting an invite to the MVC. They advanced far in the tournament recently. If you think and plan big you set yourself up for success. If you just think small, you will always be small.

The sentiment of the Raider fanbase right now is pretty funny.
The Raiders are 14-3 in conference, have lost six games all year long, just ensured another banner will hang from the Nutter Center and are one win away from their first ever outright Horizon championship and I come on here and its all doom and gloom? Just this week, other conference frontrunners lost: San Diego St. to a .500 team at home, the Zags blown out by BYU, Duke blown out by an unranked team. Conference games are weird, especially on the road. We ran into a Youngstown St. team that may have played their best game in a decade. Cleveland St. made it ugly for us at home and did the same to us on the road. We're always going to get these teams best shot. That's life at the head of the pack.
This is an all-time great Raider team. Try to enjoy this ride and not get too lost in the day-to-day.

The last two games look like teams have figured out that we are not as big and /or as physical as they are. Love is obviously big AND physical. Holden is a terrific and smart basketball player and a great rebounder, but he is giving up 2-4" and 15-30 lbs inside. Even a stud like him will have difficulty with that and/or with sustaining that. After that, the defensive physicality is non-existent but for Basile.
I think we are going to need to change things up if we hope to counter the physicality that teams are pounding us with. More sets with Basile and Love on the court together is the start. I know Basile is Love's only backup, but if Love gets in foul trouble we are likely screwed either way from here on out. The important words there being "from here on out". We can't save any legs for later...it's now or next year.
The other guy is Manns. I keep hearing that he is a defensive liability...then I watch the games and see defensive liability all over the place and from guys who either cannot score or get cold all too often and at the wrong times. He's a bigger guy...he's shown he can score in the paint...we've all seen how he can score from outside. I think he has GOT to get in the lineup from here on out. His size will allow Holden a breather and allow him to play defense on the opponents best perimeter player...because our perimeter defense and the anointed "stopper" is awful. Our interior defense can be very bad at times as well...but that's what happens when size and physicality shows up...particularly late in the season when guys are tired.
Something has to change to right the ship. Hall is a turnover or bad pass just waiting to happen (4 TOs against CSU with zero points and 4 fouls) and his stopper defense comes and goes like the wind...Wampler has suddenly decided that he can hit fade-away jumpers (but he can't)...Calvin is young and very promising to my eye but looks like the grind has caught up with him a little. Ash is too inconsistent to rely on like we do.
I think we need more Basile & Manns and less Hall & Ash...and by a significant degree. While I THINK that, I also KNOW that Nagy knows more about college basketball than I could ever even pretend to know. But something is not right with this team or teams have figured us out...and we can't keep doing the same things and suddenly expect to get back on the track that we were on earlier in the year.

I have always thought that his offensive ability would be more of a positive than his defensive short-comings. Manns isn't getting more playing time because of his play on both ends of the court not just his defensive deficiencies. Offensively, he is still a liability on the court because he doesn't try to work within the game plan our coaches establish for each game. Our offense is based on ball movement. Good ball movement stes up Lou on the inside as well as getting our shooters open looks on the outside. The key is you have to move the ball around looking for the best shot available. Manns doesn't do that. Statistically, if he touches the ball he is going to take a shot >90% of the time. We want our guys to all be scorers but you have to be a good teammate too and try to find the best shot available. James' problem is he always thinks he has the best shot and chucks it up no matter where he is at on the court and no matter what the condition of the game is. James is a very talented kid and I could easily see him starting for us next year and even picking up all HL honors. I can also very easily see him riding the pine still next year because of the above problems. I hope he figures that out because we could use his ability to score.

Bringing up Jerran Young makes me sad. He is on the first team of my all-time favorite WSU players (23 years) and the way he was utilized was very disappointing.
As for Manns he shows flashes & he can really score it but Big D laid it out. I really hope it all clicks for him. I wanted a Scottie Wilson-esque second half of the season (the way he came on for WSU in 2007) but that hasn't happened. There are still a few games to be a contributor but sadly at this point I don't think he's going to get the opportunity.
