With the way Green Bay opened the season, and got embrassed at home twice this weekend, anything besides a sweep is a gigantic disappointment imo.

The NCAA is making sure everybody is eligible to play the Raiders this year lol. Emmanuel Ansong a very athletic 6-4 forward was deemed eligible to play for the Phoenix this week.

A quick look at his profile reveals: Played one year at D2 Wheeling. No D1 offers. Averaged 15ppg, 1.4ast. 8.4reb. .552FG%. Solid numbers, but that was against D2 competition. He was doing that as a forward, which means he’ll either have to play a bit out of position on the outside or run into Love and Basile down low. Based strictly on what I’ve dug up as an armchair quarterback (point guard?) I’ll be surprised if he’s an impact player right off the bat. That said, he’s another guy with fresh legs to have in the rotation.

He was invited to the CBS high school national champion dunk contest. Here are some high school highlights: www.hudl.com/v/2DWRsL

I’m not sure to what degree we should be worried about him, but these are pretty entertaining. You’ll hear in this video that he was considering Iona and UConn. Those were both walk-on situations.

Those were both walk-on situations. I don’t think we need to worry about him by himself, but Green Bay has a pretty decent set of guards, so he adds another piece to their team. I just find it interesting that teams keep adding players right before we play them in areas where they will need help against us. Only good news is that the new players haven’t had much time to sync with the rest of the their team. I still think overall they will have trouble matching up with us top to bottom, and we should wear them down this weekend in both games. The Raiders are playing really well on both ends of the court, and I think our defense will be too much for them over the length of the game. But as long as they have Davis, Jefferson, and Pipes they have potential to put up points. I do think they are a couple years away from Ryan getting them competing for the top half of the Horizon.

Raiders are favored by 15. I expect to see Love and Basile hammer them in the paint. It should be a comfortable win today.

Well this has been a butt ugly game so far. 6-4 UWGB seven minutes into the game. Missing point blank lay up after lay up.
