YSU already had a pretty good team last year. They have added some pretty good talent from the transfer portal. They should be considered one of the front runners next year.

YSU already had a pretty good team last year. They have added some pretty good talent from the transfer portal. They should be considered one of the front runners next year. It's certainly not the first HL team to reload with good mid major talent. UIC did the same thing a few years back with arguably better tranfser and Yaklich never got the team to gel as a unit and they fell woefully short of their expectations. There's people that will argue Yaklich is a better coach than Calhoun having experience at Michigan and Texas, but I like what I see out of Calhoun after a disasterous stretch under Jerry Slocum. However, at the end of the day, YSU has had good talent in and out of that team previously, and has never finished better than tied for 4th in the Horizon League (and they've done that twice). Somehow, that team is always destined to be a middle to lower third team no matter who is at the helm, and what talent they have. YSU is a football-first school. If you've ever been to Beeghly you'd know that. Not saying it can't be done, but history certainly isn't on YSU's side.
