This was a really good interview with Coach Nagy. The take away to me was in the last 5-6 minutes of the interview when he talked about the importance of improving local recruiting. You have to think that weighed a lot in the decision to add Coach Trice to the staff. I know adding him to the staff is a popular decision on the board and across twitterverse, but it really is a big gamble. He does have a lot of local connections but he has never coached at the collegiate level before which means he has never had to recruit before. His name is going to get his foot in the door at a lot of places we haven't been able to crack before. I hope he develops the recruiting chops to land some local talent.

I really like the staff moves Nagy made this offseason. Losing 2 assistants is never ideal, but I think he made really good hires to replace them.

A few takeaways from watching the video a few times: -- All the incoming recruits are on campus and working out with the team. -- Brandon Noel looked like he was recovered from last year's knee injury and fully participating in practice. -- Andrew Welage looked like he has been working hard in the weight room this off season. -- Grant Basile was there but not participating in any of the video. Is he hurt? -- Loudon Love was no where to be seen in the video. That doesn't bode well for those still holding out hope that he will be back next year.

James Manns looked good in the video. Hope Manns has a breakout year, he has been a loyal teammate, he needs to start and set the world on fire. Did you even pay attention to the message of the video. The whole goal for this team is for every guy to put the team first. A good teammate is someone that does whatever it takes to help the team win. Manns is anything but that. We desperately needed to have more bench depth last year. We went 6-7 deep most games. I honestly think we could have gone undefeated in our OOC and HL schedule and made a run in the dance last year if we would have been able to go 7-8 deep. We couldn't do that because Manns is a very selfish player that doesn't want to play defense and wants to score every time he touches the ball. After 4 years in the program, a good teammate would have learned how to play basic defense. A good teammate would learn how to pass the ball instead of chucking up a 3 every time he touched it. He only played mop up minutes with the walk-ons because he was a shitty teammate. In regards to your belief that Manns needs to start, WTF? There is a better chance that Love will be back than there is that Manns will even be able to find his way into the rotation. There is a better chance that we get invited to the Big 10 than there is that Manns will start.

If James Manns can play 20 minutes a game and average 20 points I wouldn’t really care how bad his defense was. Whatever helps the team win, you know?

Nagy obviously doesn’t agree with you based on Jame’s playing time the last 4 years. Based on our 2 incoming transfers I don’t expect that to change this year either.

I think it’s crazy to think Manns will start, but to talk so negatively about him is pathetic, unless you have some inside info. His teammates seem to like him. I know several of them have referred to him as the funniest guy on the team. I’ll give him credit for sticking with it at Wright State, despite not getting a lot of playing time. Many people would have a bad attitude and have looked elsewhere, especially with some of the stats and highlights he could show from his limited playing time 2 seasons ago. With the depth at the 4 and 5, it’s tough to imagine him getting major minutes, but I’ll be rooting for him.

This is major college athletics where guys get the equivalent of an 100k education, a yearly monetary stipend from WSU, and can even get endorsement deals now for playing ball. This is not pee wee basketball for little kids where everyone gets a trophy for participation. James is a really nice kid and his teammates do like him. That doesn’t mean he is doing a damn thing to help us win games. For the record, I hope he reads this. I hope it pisses him off and he uses it for motivation and I would love for him to try to prove me wrong this year.
