At the start of the season, I thought the Raiders could win this game. Going into today, I didn't think they stood a chance. Awesome game! I hope this game restores the team's confidence and they can be this team throughout the conference schedule. Nagy has been talking a lot about our guys lacking confidence - you make a good point and I'd have to imagine this will really do wonders for everyone in that locker room's confidence. If you can beat NC State you sure as hell can beat anyone in HL play that's for sure.

I don’t see anything wrong with what he said. Go back and read any article about Wright State after any of our losses this year. It’s the same thing. Nagy never talks about how great our opponents were. He talks about what we did wrong in the game and what we need to improve upon in the future.

Well, not necessarily saying there's anything "wrong" with what he said, but I think you will usually at least hear the standard "Give credit to their guys for...."

I get what your saying but honestly as a fan I wouldn’t want to hear that from Nagy if we just lost to a 3-7 team ranked around 300 at home. It should never be acceptable to lose a buy game at home vs such a lowly ranked team (and unfortunately that is what we are right now). Their coach is already on the hot seat with their fans and giving us any kind of credit would probably just piss off their fans even more. That is what he needs to worry about, his fans not our feelings.
We have a really good opportunity to build off this win and have a good HL season and salvage this season. I don’t want this to be like our big win vs Michigan State years ago. We ended that season something like 11-17 so it just looked like a flash in the pan. We want this to be the turning point in the season. We played with an intensity last night we haven’t seen all season. I’m really happy we won but at the same time I’m pissed off we didn’t see that the first 10 games of the season. We could be 8-3 or 9-2 right now if we brought that same effort all season. We need to bring it ever game, not just vs name schools.

Every starter except (1) played 35+ minutes. Once again, we did not sub the last half of the 2nd half. This is simply not sustainable.
Braun played well again...but wasn't utilized in the back end of the 2nd half (again) to give the other guys even a bit of a breather.
Manns gets (4) points (none from 333) and (3) rebounds in (3) minutes of play in the first half and then never sees the court again.
Norris just keeps looking better and more comfortable.
I am excited and surprised and very pleased that we got the W last night...but I've seen this situation before and - as I stated above - this is simply not sustainable. We have GOT to get more from the bench...whether we want to or not.

Good shooting makes everything look better. One game fluke or sustainable?

I was watching Packer and Durham earlier today and Mr. Packer talked about NC State losing to (bleeping) 3 - 7 Wright State. Music to my ears.

I feel the effort has been there all season. The big difference is the growth of the two freshmen. If Braun and Norris had played this well at the start of the season, WSU would have 8 or 9 wins now. Our effort and aggressiveness against NC State was ratchet up x10 compared to most of our games this year where we looked a step slower than whoever we were playing. In regards to our freshmen, both have played like freshmen having ups and downs all year. We should expect the same the rest of the year. Freshmen show flashes at times and make dumb freshmen mistakes at times. You have to live with the good and the bad as they mature but we are going to need them both to me more consistent if we are going to have a chance to win the HL this year. You have praised Norris a couple of times in this thread. He played 24 minutes and scored 1 point. That just isn’t going to cut it. We had huge nights from 4 of our starters. You just can’t rely on that night in and night out. You need the bench to give you more production to win games. Norris, Welage, Manns, and Voss have all shown flashes of good play off the bench this year but nothing consistent. We really need 3-4 of them to be able to give us good productive minutes off the bench. If we got 3-4 points from 3 out of the 4 of them every night we have a championship level team.
