If we're going to lose road games to subpar teams and still try to be a top 3 seed to get a bye game and play a significantly lower seeded team, all of a sudden home games become must win games.
Given the farce of a schedule dealt to us by the HL for our NKU games to be scheduled on major sport days, this game certainly won't get the turnout it normally would, and I would expect our most recent result to hurt that even more.
NKU swept the Wisconsin teams quite handily and have won 7 of 8. I expect the line and game to be very close. Hopefully the commute and the Super Bowl keep the NKU fans home and we can pull out a much needed W.

The totality of this game cannot be undersold. The winner of this game will have firm grasp of the 3 seed and control their destiny to a seed as high as 2nd. Because of the number of Covid cancellations this season, winning percentage is the metric to seeding and the regular season championship. Putting aside the fact that CSU can certainly be caught because they play 5 on the road, the winner of this game takes possession of 3rd place. We would be at .72 with a win, .66 with a loss; NKU would be .68 with a win, .625 with a loss.
All of that to say, the winner of today takes firm control of 3rd place, and since we play the exact same schedule down the stretch, the loser of this game will need the winner of this game to stumble down the stretch to overtake them. Why does that matter? Well the 3 seed gets to host a team with tired legs in the HL tournament, while the 4 seed will get to host the 5 seed which didn't have to play in the opening round...there's still a lot to sort out, but right now that team is YSU. A team that matches up well against us that already beat us (albeit shorthanded) once this season. I'd much rather play a UIC, Detroit, or IPFW at home than YSU. Plus, we'd certainly rather control our destiny than be scoreboard watching every night to see what the teams ahead of us are doing.
The #2 seed is certainly still in play with Oakland losing 3 of their last 4 and two tough games coming to the O'Rena later this week, but living in the here and now, we need to defend home court today and not come out with the same lackluster effort we did on Friday.

No sign of any issues with Tanner in warm ups. No tape, no obvious shakes or grabs that I saw. Hopefully a good sign for him.

Starting small. Norris in, Braun out.

We are going to lose this game if we keep passing the ball around the perimeter and chuck up 3.

Offense has picked up right where we left off. Defense playing well, but the offense is in a world of hurt. And playing Wilbourn isn't going to help that in the slightest.

Our offensive philosophy seems to be “If it doesn’t work, keep doing it.”
