First Round Matchups:
UIC (8) @ UW-MKE (9): The Flames took Milwaukee down tonight to clinch the 8 seed, however, somewhere along the way in their breakup with the HL, they gave up their rights to host tournament games, so Milwaukee will host UIC in this game. The Flames swept the Panthers this year, but Patrick Baldwin Jr.'s availability and effectiveness is certainly a wild card for this matchup. Milwaukee has been tough at home and has pulled off big upsets over Oakland and WSU this season.
RMU (10) @ YSU (7): The Colonials don't have far to travel for their matchup Tuesday night. In a bit of an anomaly, these two teams split this season's matchups, each winning on the road. Summing the scores leads to a one point difference, so it goes without saying these two are evenly matched. You'd think with a respectable crowd, YSU would have the advantage at Beeghly, but an upset is certainly possible. If RMU could pull it off, they could very well end up staring down the barrel of Cleveland State.
UW-GB (11) @ DET (6): Due to early season Covid issues, these two only met one time this season. The Phoenix took care of the Titans in Wisconsin in a game that saw Antoine Davis score 25 in a ball-hog-like 11-26 shooting. Up until today, Detroit was protecting one of nation's longest home winning streaks, but PFW brought that to a screeching halt. Road teams have had serious issues at Calihan this year, even though Detroit is only in the middle of the pack for attendance this season. I'm looking for Detroit to right the Calihan ship and take the Phoenix down double digits in Antoine Davis' final home appearance.
IUPUI (12) @ OAK (5): Not sure what really can be said about this matchup. The Jaguars are on one of the worst runs in the history of the Horizon League. They have 2 non-D1 wins on the season and appeared to be bound for a fruitless conference season until they pulled off an upset at RMU earlier this month. Oakland has way too many weapons and too strong of a home court advantage for the Jags to keep this close.

Despite how the season felt a lot of times Wright State was a single 4 scholarship player game away from winning the league for the 4th straight year.
I know they had lots of other chances to win the league but being within a game of a title despite how up and down the team was is still something.
Hopefully they can be up for three games over the next 10 days and bring another banner to the Nutter Center!

11 UW-GB 62 @ 6 DET 79
Green Bay tried to make it interesting with an extended 22-6 run in the second half, but Detroit was able to pull away late. Detroit will play at NKU on Thursday. Detroit swept NKU this season winning both games by 8 points. Antoine had 19 and 20 in those two games.
10 RMU 77 @ 7 YSU 73
A furious comeback by the Penguins made this look much closer than it felt the majority of the game. RMU had a 20 point second half lead that the Penguins erased in a hurry late in the second half. YSU couldn't quite get close enough and the Colonials made their FTs to pull of a nice upset of the Penguins at Beeghley. Colonials earn themselves a trip to the Wolstein Center for a showdown with the #1 seed Vikings. CSU took the season series, but the game at RMU was won by CSU by 1 point in OT.
12 IUPUI 58 @ 5 OAK 70
A closer game throughout as the Jaguars fought tooth and nail keeping it respectable most of the way. In the end Oakland had too much firepower. Oakland will head to the Nutter for their quarterfinal matchup.
8 UIC 80 @ 9 UW-MKE 69
Winner of this game will head to Fort Wayne to take on the 2nd seeded Mastodons. UIC only played PFW once this season and that was a road loss 73-66. The return game was canceled due to Covid concerns.
Quarterfinal games, all Thursday:
(1) CSU vs (10) RMU (2) PFW vs (8) UIC (3) NKU vs (6) DET (4) WSU vs (5) OAK

Those five guys for IUPUI played "all out" for the whole game, which could not be said for the Oakland players.

We need a Raider win tonight. We have been knocked out of the HL tournament early the last 2 years. We need to reverse that trend and get it done tonight!

This has been a rough year based on the previous success Nagy has achieved here. We have a chance to put that behind us and win 3 in a row and make this season a success still. Time to man up Raiders!

I just looked at joe lunardi’s bracket. He has csu as hl rep as a 16 seed. My guess is if any other team wins tournament the may well be in play in game at ud arena ( oakland may be exception to that, they may be a 16 also if they win).
I remember a lot of gnashing of teeth here and elsewhere about Fort Wayne getting into the hl. Now they are co league champions. wow!!
