Any reports on how Noel has looked? It's looking like he may be key to next year's rotation.

Beat of luck to Grant, nothing but the best.
This really caught be off guard. I thought he would be the last to transfer. Not sure what he's looking for but he had a good situation here.
I was optimistic that the core could stay together but that is not in jeopardy. It is crucial we keep Holden and Calvin.

Have to wonder if Braun is really ready for 30+ minutes a game...I have no experience coaching basketball, but I think for the betterment of the program, we have to make a move to counter his departure and hope it goes better than the last big guy we brought in off the portal. I think Braun is going to be an absolute stud for us. Making the jump from high school center to college center is the hardest transition in basketball. In high school, a good center is probably going to play against 1-2 D1 level post players in his entire high school careers. Going from being the biggest/strongest player on the court to playing against guys your size that are also skilled and physically mature is a huge transition. It's a big reason why Nagy usually likes to red-shirt big men. He wants them to mature in the weight room and learn how to really play the post position. Love and Basile both red-shirted. Braun played as a true freshman and he played after going through a pretty bad bought of covid mid-season that really set his conditioning back and limited his minutes the whole second half of the year. For comparison sake, Love averaged 28 minutes, 12.9 points, and 9.7 rebounds his red-shirt freshman year. Grant averaged 14 minutes, 6.2 points, and 4.3 rebounds his red-shirt freshman year. Braun averaged 14.9 minutes, 5.4 points, and 3 rebounds a game as a true freshman. We all know how much Love and Basile improved every year they played at WSU. I have no doubt Braun is going to make similar improvement over his career as long as he puts in the work. I have high hopes that Brandon Noel is going to be ready to step in and contribute next year. I had high hopes that we were going to have a 3 headed monster in the paint this year with Basile/Braun/Noel splitting time between the 4/5 spots. Looks like we need to find a 3rd big to take Basile's spot. It sucks but every guy is replaceable. Last year we were looking at going into this season without Love thinking he was not replaceable. At the end of the day, everyone is replaceable. We just need to have the next man up mentality and go from there. One final note. Nagy needs to change his recruiting and development philosophy now that we are in the age of the transfer portal. We need to stop bringing in guys and red-shirting them. Nagy has the thought process that he wants a roster full of 4th and 5th year players on the court. That doesn’t happen anymore. There is no reason to red-shirt and develop a guy like Basile just to lose him to a P6 conference school. We need to start playing guys the day they set foot on campus and get the most out of them while they are here. We also need to better utilize the transfer portal. Last year we struck out in the portal with the 2 guys we added. We need to be able to bring in an impact guy or 2 every year from the portal. Our staff needs to step up their game.

Dang, that bums me out. I would have assumed that’s something that communicated and isn’t a complete surprise after being here for so long.

I don't think Tim or Grant will leave after this season. From everything I have heard about them, they are both stand up type guys and I think they would have told Coach Nagy of their intention of leaving Wright State after graduating this year. If that was the case, we would have honored them on senior night this year. Things could definitely change, or I could be misjudging the type of men they are but I would be surprised if they were both not back in Raider uniforms next season. Well, today's news proved me wrong. It is very disappointing to hear that Grant is bailing on the program without as much as giving the staff a heads up. For a program that has done nothing but supported him for the last 4 years, all I can say is I am very disappointed that he didn't have the common courtesy to tell the staff weeks ago so they could have spent the time looking for a replacement for his scholarship. I don't like that he is leaving but I understand why he is doing it. I just lost all respect for him with the way he is leaving us.

Is it possible he was the subject of new interests due to the tournament appearance, and maybe he wasn’t sure of his future until recently?

Is it possible he was the subject of new interests due to the tournament appearance, and maybe he wasn’t sure of his future until recently? If you really believe that I think you are pretty naive. I don't think you go from the emotional high of playing in the NCAA tournament to announcing you are leaving the program you have been a part of for the last 4 years in a matter of 4 days without prior planning.

I worried about Calvin leaving, especially after the Arizona coach said he could probably play for anyone after Arizona beat them. I was definitely not expecting Basile leaving. But overall, you can't be surprised. It's really unfortunate, and I feel bad for Coach Nagy, but just not surprised with the nature of transfers, the extra Covid year etc. In some ways I support the players decision to choose. They only get to be a College Player once so they should have some freedom with that. Unfortunately, I don't think the freedom is benefitting the Mid Major schools.
I think Nagy does need to change his approach a little with recruiting and creating his rosters. I could see Nagy retiring though if he just gets tired of this new NCAA. Hopefully not, but I wonder how much longer he decides to coach?
Maybe Wright State does need to start working on helping their players a little more as far as the NIL deals? That could be a small way they keep some of the better players around. I think there are some opportunities in the Dayton area for the players.

Nagy has shown an ability replace guys that leave or graduate, so like others here have stated, Braun is going to do great next year and the team won't miss Basile as much as people may have thought initially. To look into Braun's year, it really is a tale of two seasons. Up until the first win over Oakland, Braun's numbers as a true freshman were better than Basiles. He was averaging over 17 minutes a game, over 7 points and 4 boards a game.

Well crap -- came here after a few days away, and this is what I find! May have been unrealistic, but I was really hoping everyone would stick around, and get us back to the tourney with the chance at a higher seed. Hoping the others stay put.

We've got some serious work to do all of a sudden. Half of our points scored this past season are in the transfer portal.
