WSU: Obviously in the big dance. Different bracketologists have us in different places.
-Lunardi (ESPN): Currently a 16 seed playing in Dayton against Bryant (other 16 seed play in teams are Nicholls and Alcorn St.*)
-Palm (CBS): Currently a 16 seed playing in Dayton against Alcorn St.* (same 16 seeds as Lundardi)
-Miller (Bleacher Report): We're a 16 playing Arizona (this would not be a pretty game).
*Alcorn State has not yet clinched.
CSU: Locked into the NIT. Looks like they're likely an 8 seed playing one of the first four out of the NCAA tournament (a list that includes Dayton, Notre Dame, and Indiana)
YSU: Sounds like they will be hosting a CIT game on 3/16, but won't have anything finalized likely until NIT selections are wrapped up.
Other news:
Darrin Horn, in postgame commentary last night, indicated that NKU's season was over. I would also think that Oakland could be a team that could get a look by either one of the other tournaments.
Both the CIT and CBI are back in play this season. The 32-team CIT (apparently now called The Basketball Classic) will take place at campus sites, the CBI will be a 16-team destination tournament held in Daytona Beach.
It's also worth noting that of the 4 teams currently pegged for the first four, there's a bit of a line drawn in the sand. Alcorn is projected to win SWAC with a NET of 260. Bryant won the NEC at 202, also probably staying in Dayton. We're currently 192, and Nicholls is 189. If is even one more major upset in a conference final with a 200+ NET team knocking off a good team. For instance, Vermont is the favorite in the American East with a NET of 60, an upset by any of the other three teams would put a team with a NET of at least 230 into the tournament. The same can hold true if anyone besides Norfolk wins the MEAC (and there are others).
