The last three Wright State coaches that have left for bigger baseball budgets and paychecks have had less success at their current school:
Rob Cooper 2014-2022 record 158-245 2023 Current RPI 112
Greg Lovelady 2017-2022 record 199-123 Current RPI 125
Jeff Mercer 2019-2022 record 99-79 Current RPI 30
Coach Sogard makes about 100K/year
Cooper, Lovelady and Mercer are making between $300k-500k. Their teams all fly charter jets and their recruiting budgets are substantial. Bottomline is Wright State is getting a lot of bang for the buck on baseball.

This is a busy week for RaiderGang with two midweek home games against Dayton on Tuesday and Central Florida on Wednesday.
Xavier just swept three games against Creighton and the Blue Jays are a program at about the same level as Wright state and Xavier. It got me to thinking about which Ohio school has the best team this year. The season is in the final stretch so this is a good time to take a look.
Top five teams in Ohio.
Here is how I see it:
1. Xavier 30-17 RPI 46 They may be just a little outside the running for an at-large spot in the NCAA Regional. They swept RaiderGang this year.
2. Wright State 29-18 RPI 82 RaiderGang seems to be hitting their stride at the right time.
3. Kent State 32-13 RPI 64 I am not that familiar with the Golden Flashes this year. I know they do not play a tough schedule. They went to the CWS in 2012.
4. Ohio State 23-25 RPI 91 Their RPI is going up faster than their win total because they are benefitting from playing some of the better teams in the Big 10.
5. Ohio 16-25 RPI 183 I just pulled a turd out of the punch bowl for number five. There is quite a drop off after the top four. Ohio has played a very tough schedule. Usually UC would be number five, but they are not having a normal year. They should get better going forward as a member of the Big 12.

Raiders up 11-1 going into the 8th inning. A straight up dominant performance against that one team over th.....the opponent.

UCF is on an Ohio swing this week. They lost to Ohio State yesterday 2-0. After they play Wright State they head to Cincy to play a three-game series versus UC. I would not be surprised if they stay in Dayton and practice at Wright State on Thursday. UCF is 27-21 with an RPI of 127 (Quad 3). HISTORY VS. MKE
Wright State leads the all-time series 76-65. The Raiders were swept at Milwaukee in early April, losing two of the three games by three or fewer runs. WSU went 3-2 against MKE in 2022, capped off by back-to-back wins on the road to conclude the regular season.
Milwaukee is 19-24 overall with an RPI of 254
RaiderGang RPI is 72.
