I'm not going to put a lot of eggs in the basket that is this game. It's the first game of the season, but more importantly, it's the first game of a new look Raiders. Holden and Basile are gone (and did you all see the stat line Grant put up in his debut??). This team has a ton of question marks for me; questions about leadership, questions under the basket, questions about style and pace of play. I'd feel a lot better if this game was deeper into the season when we've got out a better grip about how this team gels, what our rotations are, who plays well together, etc. This is one of the best names we've drawn into the Nutt House under Nagy and I fear we won't be able to give our very best game working in new pieces at the very start of the season. It'd be a great statement win and it would certainly put the league on notice and "hey maybe WSU's gonna rebound quick", but I just hope people aren't over-reactive if we lose this game. I think it might take some time for the ball to start to roll downhill for us. Don't forget, Davidson took Michigan State to the wire in the NCAA tournament last year and lost by 1 point.

There are a lot of uncertainties about this team. The optimist in me thinks the Raiders can win this game and really any of the games on our schedule this year. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this team has a losing record in the nonconference given these issues and the quality of the nonconference schedule. On the bright side, Davidson is in a similar position as the Raiders--losing some of their best players from last season, though returning some studs. Davidson has a couple Ohio guys on their roster, so they might get a nice turnout. I'm excited for the season to start and just hope the Raider fans show up and we have a competitive game.

Saw on IG that the frisbee dogs are performing at halftime. Looks like we are trying to set a nice atmosphere / game experience for game #1 this year. I know the team was out on campus trying to drum up support and attendance for tonight.

As this is one of, if not the best matchup of the night in the midwest, we've got 2/3rds a Big10 officiating crew in DJ Carstensen and Courtney Green in the house. Carstensen officiated our last win ironically enough.
