Big d, I think I was not clear in what I said. I compared our performance in the first and second half of each game we lost. My thought is that if fatigue is breaking us down and costing us games we would see a drop off in the second half of games. I looked for big leads at halftime that led to losses due to poor performance in the second half. I did not see any of that so I am doubtful that our losses resulted from fatigue.
You made a number of comments about a lack of depth. Maybe if we did not bring in transfers who cannot help us, spent those scholarships on recruits that could play, we would not be so short handed. Coach may be living in a different era. Before there was a transfer portal. Before NIL. If we do not have enough players who can compete at an our level that is a recruiting issue. And if we cannot put 8-9 guys out there who can perform adequately and we have 3 guys in dress clothes on the bench being redshirted, maybe they should be thrown out there to see if they can do the job. Although one would think he would be playing them if they had shown in practice they could compete.

I don't disagree that I think Nagy has an opportunity to get with the times regarding the transfer portal. Since coming here, we have lost Skylear Potter, Malachi Smith, Grant Basile James Manns, Jaylon Hall, Andre Harris, & Jack Hendricks while picking up C.J. Wilbourn, Amari Davis, Blake Sisley, Jordan Ash, and Aleksandar Dozic (never appeared in a game). (Apologies if I overlooked anyone).
Not going to hound on each of these players splits or rub salt into the wounds of what we all know is going on with the future of NCAA basketball in regards to the transfer portal, or how it single-handedly is allowing P5 programs to poach ultra-elite mid-major players; suffice to say that we've taken an absolute bludgeoning when it comes to the transfer portal. The guys were losing are going on to be key cogs in good programs, and the guys were getting simply aren't filling the void left behind. Of course, this problem is a direct result of the changes made by the NCAA, but our staff has done a poor job in using the portal to better our program.
I realize the old curmudgeon attitude to not wanting to accept change (I'm that kind of person too), but it'd be great if the portal was helping us instead of sucking us dry. It sucks for MM programs, but there are other schools who are losing talent who are also getting good talent out of the portal....so far, we're not one of those teams.

Justin Mitchell didnt transfer but left the program (I think). Two great transfees were Gentry and Wampler. While Finke has been a 3 year starter, I would have much rather had Malachi or Potter three years..

Regarding NIL and the transfer portal - We should really be able to add a player or two from the P5 level that is over their head in those conferences but would be a solid option in the HL. It may not be a wash from the players we lose going up a level but it should mitigate some of the damage as long as Nagy is on board with embracing those transfers. Shoot there are players in our league that bombed out at UD that are key contributors at other schools in the conference. We just need to hit on more Cole Gentry's instead of Jordan Ash's (no offense to Jordan who dealt with injury issues I believe).
