Remember the optimism of at large bids etc. when Nagy came on? Now we’re finishing in the bottom of the league. Love, Tanner and Basile carried the program for years but what now? Was finishing near 200 in the NET the 7 year plan? Why should people NOT be frustrated? I would argue Love carried this program. As stated above, I think a lot of us expected more from last year, but they got hot at the right time and made the tournament. Our Kenpom ratings have been: ‘17 - 164 ‘18 - 133 ‘19 - 117 ‘20 - 133 ‘21 - 71 ‘22 - 172 ‘23- 187

A down year doesn’t constitute such panic and certainly isn’t indicative of program disarray. Some folks here might need to take a deep breath or have a drink. LOL Sure, it’s not going as well as we’d like, but calling out players and blaming Nagy for everything including the weather is just laughable. Keep some perspective. This team has had some real challenges this year. I agree with the challenges aspect of this season. Losing two of WSU's best players in recent memory really hurt heading into 2022-2023. Unless something dramatic happens in the next week I expect WSU to lose a lot of players this offseason including critical ones like Trey & Noel. That is the reason I am concerned. It's bigger than just this year. In 2023 with the transfer portal & NIL a season like the current one could have terrible ramifications on the long-term health of the program.

Was finishing near 200 in the NET the 7 year plan? Why should people NOT be frustrated? Okay...here is actually what worries me a ton. He has backfilled his staff with his son and a guy that won at the HS level raiding other area HS programs...and that still works as an insurance agent. Are those signs of a serious program? Personally, I really don't care how this year ends because next year is going to be the same shit. I explained to some folks at work how WSU has a very proud tradition...in 36 seasons of D-I basketball, only 10 losing seasons (6 within one 8 year span between Underhill/Brown/Schilling). Incredibly consistent and a solid program that expects to win 20+ games a year and contend in their conference. This program from DII to DI is a winning program and fans expect and deserve it. The right thing for Coach to do, if he wants tobl preach faith and patience in the media, is to give back a part of his salary to the other programs in the athletic department that are winning with less. Bob Grant has done a great job the last 7-8 years with his hires. In most cases, when the highest paid coach in a conference finishes in the middle to back of the pack two years in a row, they get on the hot seat. It's going to be interesting to see what Grant and the WSU administration do if there is another middle to bottom year next year, considering the salary Coach is pulling.

Last year y'all made fun of me for saying the program was a mess. If we hadn't won two games in the conf tournament last year would have looked just like this year. Hey, maybe we'll get lucky again and he'll look like a genius. I agree and no one is talking about this. It's a tough pill to shallow, the championship game was so exciting and then we get a first four victory in front of a home crowd. But how did we get there? It took a crowd effort to rally the team against Oakland. I was there, there was no life until we started pumping the team back up. Watch that NKU game again. I was going to list out a number of moments that could have cost us that game. We played our asses off of course but there were a number of breaks that went our way. My point being we came close to not making it with Trey, Holden and Basile. I keep bringing up expectations for next year. Who is going to step up? The freshmen guards? Very fearful how this team plans to operate next year. Anything less than a top 2 finish in this trash conference is a disappointment.

I just don't see any leaders on this team. Nagy is quoted in the paper questioning how much heart his players have left and if they are just going to pack it in this season. If we had any leadership that wouldn't even be a question. So what changes next year? Who steps up as leader? Maybe Davis in his 2nd year in the program if he didn't feel like he could this year? Braun or Noel? Even if Trey comes back he's not going to all of a sudden become what he's not as a Senior already.
I don't know who scores or provides leadership next year. That's not a strong start towards any optimistic hopes for next season.

40 minutes. 3 rebounds, 2 points. Nagy says his defense is his strong suit. I’m not sure his stats supports it. I’m fairly sure Finke and Norris have close to lowest offensive effectiveness in D1.
