Huge win for Oakland! Gohke was unconscious with 10 3's.

Congrats Oakland! Great win for them and for the Horizon League. Incredible game overall, Gohlke was amazing, Townsend really good, and then their role players hit big shots down the stretch including Cole. That's one of the best college games I've seen in awhile, close the whole game, big shots, star performances. I don't think Gohlke needs to hit 10 3's for them to beat Texas Tech or NC State, but I think he'll have to another big game for them to advance, but impressed with Oakland. Their Point Guards were solid all game, Cole, Watts, etc.

I had Oakland getting the win on my bracket. I told a cowaroker that they have shooters, and a guy that if he gets hot, could hit 10 threes, and that is exactly what happend. Respect ✊

It seems that March Madness is Jack Gohlke, John Calipari and nothing in between. It’s the power and the glory and the collateral wreckage they leave behind. Folk heroes and fallen angels. No room for context or subtlety. It is madness, truly and that is why we love it.
John Calipari, the Kentucky coach, wakes up this morning, assuming he slept at all with his $33 million guaranteed contract and a legacy that money cannot fix. Gohlke, the Oakland University guard, wakes up this morning after getting very little sleep as the most famous name in the history of sports in Rochester, MI, population 13,075, home of Oakland. Just 20 miles north of Detroit, home to novelist Elmore Leonard, serial killer Aileen Wuornos and Madonna. Gohlke the zero star recruit that got only one Div I offer and that he took, and he made the most of it.
You can't make these storylines up. This is what makes March Madness so special. With Wright State sitting at home, we all have a team to root for. Go Grizzlies.

All season long I heard several coaches (including Nagy) say the HL was as good and as competitive as they had seen it. I blew it off as coach speak, plus a couple of those coaches haven't been there long.
After watching Oakland play in the tourney against UK and NCSU, maybe they were right. The top 8 HL teams were all very competitive against each other, and Oakland (clearly the best of those 8) went toe to toe with 2 power five teams.
Granted, NC State was not near the top of the ACC standings, but has been on a tear the last few weeks. The ACC also put 4 of their 5 tourney teams thru to the sweet 16, so perhaps the ACC is also stronger than they were rated. The fifth ACC team, UVA, should never have made the tourney, and the committee should have put Pitt in the first 4 instead. The MWC and SEC both underperformed for the amount of teams they got in.
Bottom line, Oakland represented the HL well, and just maybe the HL may not have sucked quite as much as usual this year. (IUPUI and Detroit still massively sucked).

Can't verify numbers but interesting to hear YSU leads HL in NIL funding.
