Roder posted on Twitter that he was entering. I have also heard from a few people that Laisure has/plans to enter. Other people on this thread might be able to confirm, deny, and add more names if they know. Chris Gallagher Chris Committed to Purdue

I’m assuming since Sogard has posted this “Build The Monster” graphic with the same caption, that it means a transfer addition or other roster addition?
I do know that the staff has been in contact with some of the area’s top D-2 arms that are looking to finish their careers at the the Division I level.

The two best baseball conferences continue to dominate. College World Series has 4 ACC and 4 SEC teams, and didn't let any other conference crash their party. All the great Cinderella stories from the regionals are now gone, as well as all the usual Big 10, Pac 12, Big 12, and Big East baseball powers.

There are roughly 4,000 college baseball players in the transfer portal, and there hasn't been a single pitch thrown in Omaha. This whole college baseball system is crazy. It is not ideal what is going on, but I trust the RaiderGang coaching staff find the right kind of players to play at Wright State.

Indiana State currently has 16 players active in the Transfer Portal, according to D1Baseball, including:
Luke Hayden Randal Diaz Simon Gregersen Cole Gilley Luis Hernandez Brennyn Cutts (MVC Pitcher of the Year) Dominic Listi Parker Stinson
ISU is a peer program that has had a very good last two years. It is amazing that RaiderGang has not had a huge exodus, which speaks volumes of the culture Alex Sogard has developed. Players are generally leaving Mid-Major programs for NIL money. It will be interesting how long Wright State can hold things together as college baseball drifts away from the traditional approach of recruiting and developing players over four years. The future looks very questionable for teams like Wright State.

Luke Hayden:
Due to coaching changes I have entered the transfer portal from Indiana State University.
6’ 2” 205lbs RHP 2nd Team MVC
FB 93-96 T98 CT 87-91 SL 82-87 CH 83-88
2024 Stats: 16 Starts/ 16 Appearances 7-2, 3.81 ERA 78 Innings 91Ks/ 47BBs
His stats indicate he would be a needed addition to the Raiders, but I have no idea if he would be a good fit for our RaiderGang.
Hey, I am out beating the bushes trying find some pitching for the Raiders.

IMO, the transfer portal shouldn’t be open to student athletes until after the season is finished, to include the post season.

IMO, the transfer portal shouldn’t be open to student athletes until after the season is finished, to include the post season. The season is over and the academic term has already ended for most of these kids. It makes no sense that 99% of the available players should have to wait to get started with their future planning because you want to wait for the college World Series to be done. That doesn’t make sense for those athletes and it doesn’t make sense for all the college coaches that need to figure out who plans to transfer out and then come up with a plan to replace them.

The Greatest Show on Dirt (CWS) is proving to be just that. First three games are walk off wins and the long awaited (4 hour + rain delay) final first round game ended up 3-2! Omaha is rocking, it is one big party. There are people all over the Omaha area wearing apparel for the teams they are rooting for. The locals quite often adopt a team and root for that team during the CWS. Usually, but not always, they pick one of the mid-major underdog teams...like Oral Robers, SUNY or Kent State. When Wright State finally gets here, I think there will be a lot of people wearing WSU baseball gear around Omaha. For the record, I am rooting for Kentucky, since they play RaiderGang every so often and I like their coach. If you are not watching the CWS, you are missing the best baseball you will see this year. The baseball is more fundamentally sound than the MLB. If you have a youngster that aspires to play post high school baseball, what they see at the CWS as they watch the games on TV is their blueprint on what it takes to play at the next level. When I was a HS baseball coach in Cincy, I tried to take my team to a UC game every year so they could see baseball played the right way. -look at the player's bodies, they don't miss weightroom days. -look at their skill sets...these guys focus on little things and buy into team. -look at the team baseball approach--you will see squeezes, safety squeezes, situational hitting, etc. -look at their bench--you will see amazing teammates who are not pouting because they are not in the game. -look at their approach and routines at the plate...these guys are mentally tough! If you are looking for it, you see RaiderGang doing all of the above at Wright State games, but today you can just turn on ESPN2 and watch it. Finally, here is an article about Julian Greenwell. Here is the money quote, where he was asked about what made him happy about his time at WSU and it concerns the team culture: “I should say the biggest thing is probably the culture within the team. The coaches give us a lot of freedom, so throughout the year, it’s basically on you to get the workout in,” Greenwell said. “At the end of the year, when we win a championship or win our league, it really rewarding to know that you weren’t really pushed to have to do that, you pushed yourself and you earned that. That’s been the culture at Wright State basically. The friends I made, I consider them brothers, consider them family. They’ve been amazing, all the coaches have been amazing. It was a true home.” www.therepublic.com/2024/06/14/greenwell-looking-at-life-after-baseball/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

So out of control how the Transfer Portal is being abused as College Baseball Free Agency. Any player that goes and plays Summer Collegian baseball is up to be recruited. I hear at least 100-150 schools are in Cape right now trying to buy players. It’s gone past out of control. This is not good for the Raiders and other Mid-Majors.
